No BUTS about working fine in sunlight. However, you need to know a few things. The less strong the light intensity, the lower will be the power of the pump. The degree of shade will determine your ability to use some of the more picturesque patterns. I found that in heavier shade under trees the pump still worked, but it was necessary to select a straight up-no-pattern opening that caused a dribble to a 5 or six inch single thick stream. This selection is less scary to birds, who avoid the wide spray when the device is placed in a bird bath.For bird bath operation in sun, be aware that you will have to fill the bath daily because of evaporation which is intensified by the patterns and of spillage in breezes. Only three of the four plastic rods are needed in a bath. Place them equally spaced, to force centering in the bath. Note that the pump still works if there is no water to pump, SO TO AVOID WEAR ON ALL PLASTIC PARTS, do not store the device face up in a dry environment.

Would not recommend as it stopped working after a week. It is in the sun and worked great and I went out the next morning and not working at all.Poor customer service, did not get replacement or money back. Will not order again

This is a small fountain for our pool. It doesn't make that much of an impact. It's a larger than the pots we have outside to turn it into a planter fountain. Needs full sun, will not work in shade at all.

This solar fountain is such a high quality piece! I bought a similar looking one a year ago that didn’t have nearly as thorough instructions for use, nor did it have the features this one has, including the filter (plus extras), and the inserts that keep it from floating around and spilling the water over the edges. This solar fountain looks beautiful with the orange center and black disk, and is very sturdy. It was easy to put together, and the water will stay much cleaner without the rocks I had been using to try to keep the old one from floating all around. And, since this one does stay put, I will actually be able to use all the different nozzles to change up the water pattern. Very happy with this purchase!

This water. Fountain is so much than our last one, it functions even there isn’t full sun out and it sprays are higher.Definitely worth the money.

Das Solarwasserspiel wurde pünktlich geliefert, ohne viel Verpackung. Die Anleitung ist verständlich und ohne Probleme auszuführen. Wenn man fertig ist hat man einen schönes kleines Wasserspiel, passend für einen Miniteich. Alle Teile sind wie versprochen dabei, es gibt sogar mehrere Filter zum Wechseln. Die Verarbeitung wirkt hochwertig und langlebig, mehr kann ich dazu leider noch nicht sagen. Allerdings sollte man bedenken ohne Sonne läuft nix dann macht er nur ein kleines Blubbern. Was allerdings nicht bedauertet dass er defekt ist, für ein Solarpanel braucht er wenig Sonnenlicht um zu funktionieren. Die Fotos wurden bei bewölktem Wetter gemacht.
