Product Description

Solar panels

How many hours of direct sunlight does a Ring Solar Panel need for my device to stay charged?

For best performance, Ring recommends at least 2-3 hours of direct sunlight per day for Solar Panel. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions. Make sure there are no obstructions or objects that could cast a shadow on your solar panel, such as an extended roof, tree, or bush.

Will solar power keep my Ring device charged during cloudy or seasonal weather?

Ring solar products require direct sunlight to stay charged and provide power to the device. If the weather is cloudy or it rains/snows, this would limit the direct sunlight your device receives, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures may also cause excessive drain to your device’s lithium-ion battery. With prolonged cloudy or winter weather, you may need to manually recharge the battery more frequently. When sunny weather returns and the solar panel receives enough direct sunlight again, it will keep the device powered.

How can I install my solar panel to get the most sunlight and the maximum solar charge?

Seasonality and how far north or south you live affects the strength of the sun. If you live in the northern hemisphere, install your solar panel facing South. If you live in the southern hemisphere, install it facing North. Ring recommends to use the adjustable arm to angle the panel at about 45 degrees toward the sky to get the most sunlight possible.

Will a Ring solar panel keep my device fully charged at 100% battery level?

The battery level of the device will vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. Even with exposure to maximum sunlight, the battery level will not exceed a threshold of around 80%—this is to extend the lifetime of the battery.

Just installed the solar panels into my home the panels did exactly what I wanted for them to do. Only thing I will say if you’re installing in wood use wood screws the screws that came with the kit terrible.

I got these so I wouldn't have to charge batteries. They work and in fact this 3 pack came with some mounting hardware that I would have had to order separately for about 10$ so I could mount one of my camera's upside down. Thankfully I only needed 2 of the solar panels so I was able to use the extra hardware for that.Bottom line is they do there job and I've had no problems.

The ones we ordered had two panels that did not work. Tried on all the cameras still didn’t work. Returned them.

Bought these for my new Ring battery powered cameras. Got the big ladder out and set up the first one quickly, took longer to get the ladder out. It keeps them charged so I don't have to get the big ladder out. After a couple days of rain one stopped working. So got the big ladder out and installed a spare. Then that showed to not be working. Upon resetting my camera it worked. Now I'm unsure if the one I took down is bad. Easy to use and a much more affordable solar panel for the Ring battery powered cameras.

You need to switch the power source in your Ring app if you were previously just on battery. You can’t just plugin the solar panel. This works great with my outdoor stick up camera!
