It doesn't work consistently. Some nights it turns on, most it doesn't. The solar panel is made to appear larger than it actually is by spreading out the cells over an area more than twice as big as they are. I believe the panel is too small to reliably charge the battery. It needs to be sized to account for cloudy days and cold weather. After a month it doesn't turn on at all. Save your money

We bought this to give our girls a little extra light during the winter and it’s perfect. Our coop doesn’t have electricity so a plug in light wasn’t really an option. The price was reasonable and it was easy to install. I was worried that it wasn’t working but that’s because it’s got a dusk to dawn sensor and we installed it in the evening but it turned on the following evening (after a full charge) and every night since. The light it provides is sufficient to keep the girls laying all winter, which we love!

Two of 4 worked great. One never worked out of the box and was obviously returned and had an incorrect top ring. A second one was charged for 8 hours in direct sunlight and ‘flashed’ on for a 1/2 second and died. Obviously not a great battery.Sadly I got them and left them in their boxes until I could finish the room Reno they were being used in. Too late now to return. Very disappointed that Amazon resells as new products that are returned without even confirming products still works.

I had a different set for yrs. These don't work. There's been tons of full sun for days. Went to turn them on only one turned on and then went off. I was setting them at 50% on 3 hr- or I should say trying to get them set for that.

These lights are advertised as the equivalent of a 50 watt lightbulb which would be about 700 lumens. I have a 100 lumen night light in our kitchen. I’d estimate these lights to be about 1/10 of their advertised output, which is too bad as they’re a nice design. If you want to illuminate a picnic table, you might want to consider an alternative. However, these lights will work very well to increase egg production if you have chickens. I installed them in my coop and set the timer for 3 hours. I’ve noticed quite an increase in the number of eggs we get during winter. If you have chickens, these lights will pay for themselves.
