Plugged in, red heating light on. Turns off after 30 sec. Can not change the temperature. Does not stay on.

Seems to be a good way to keep my sourdough starter at a constant temperature. I like 72, but I have to set it at 74 to get 72. Also I thought it could be charged to use without the cord, but it only works with the cord plugged in. Not a huge deal.
