Great replacement latch for my Yamaha jet boat. I was concerned that the diameter might not be the same, but it worked perfectly! Replaced out my old broken cooler latch, and I just ordered a 2nd one to replace out a old discolored latch on my hatch door. This is the same exact OEM latch that came on my boat. Installation is very easy, just 2 bolts, and pretty straight forward

Served as a solid replacement for plastic latches on a Bayliner. The previous latch broke at the L, and showed signs of rust (saltwater). This has held up so far, and I’ve ordered another as a back up for any other latch that fails.Easy installation and fit the hole nicely. The machine screws that hold together we’re a bit short for the purpose, but no issue in reusing the existing screws.

I bought the southco brand and a comparable less expensive brand. In a side by side comparison the southco is way better. The southco is on the left in the second photo. It is a brighter white and the plastic has a better feel. The inside of the latch handle is smooth vs sharp on the cheapo. The cheapo did come with a couple of spacer rings, which I wish the southco had. The south co has better bolts for the latch, but does not come w screws for the strike. Ill be using the southco for a livewell lid on a saltwater boat. Sending the cheapo back.

The original latches on my 480 Sea Ray are from 1999 . Several were broken, I'm the fourth owner. These are exact replacement parts, it doesn't get any better.

I ordered this latch to replace a similar broken item on my 1999 Ebbtide Campione 188. The white color matches the boat well. The latch diameter fits nicely in the 2†hole in the deck hatch. It is mounted to the hole in the boat hatch by screwing on a backing plate on the underside of the latch. The backing plate that came with the new latch was only 1/8†thick, so it did not mount snugly and had a lot of play. Fortunately, I could use the thicker backing plate (1/2†thick) from the old, broken latch to take up the slack so everything turned out OK. Attched is a photo which shows the backside of the latch with the two backing plates. If your deck material is thin like mine, you will need a thicker backing plate.

One of our boat latches broke into pieces from 17 years of sun. These are a direct replacement and worked perfect. Especially if you had southco latches before. Pay attention to whether you need/want the locking version.
