I had never seen anything like this before so I was almost skeptical, but the reviews were great and videos helped too. And it works perfectly. It takes a moment after lighting the cone for the smoke to start coming down, so be patient for a minute or two. One small downside: there's a weird brown stain showing up occasionally from using it; the liquid stain follows the pathway of the smoke all the way down. I have to wipe it clean occasionally. Otherwise, excellent item and a great gift.

This is a cool incense burner. It's very pretty. You use backflow incense cones and the smoke travels down like a waterfall. This does work as described but if there is ANY air movement it just blows the smoke everywhere. So even if you walk by it or breathe too hard it disrupts the smoke flow. The smell of the incense is strong. Each cone only lasts about 15 to 20 minutes. It comes with tweezers and a mat to set it on. I did not like that the cones were all in a bag, so they all smell the same. I think they should package those separately.

The stand itself is very pretty so it gets a 3 just for the look. I got this for my meditation time and was looking forward to watching the waterfall of smoke. Well that didn't happen. By the time the smoke makes it down the hole in the cone, it is half burnt. They burn maybe 5 minutes and smell horrible. As you can see by the bag, I got almost all brown. Definitely not 'upgraded' cones. The smell is shades of 1970 highschool parties. Eek! So now I need to find some better quality cones for sure. Also, the top is uneven so the cone is a bit unsteady. I am going to set it on a glass candle plate in case a cone falls off. Fire hazard. Glad I got it on sale or it would be going back. I wouldn't buy it again. :(

I just received this item and lit the incense cone, which by the way smells excellent, that made the entire house smell wonderful. Here is the lacking part, I bought this based on the smoke flow and how cool it looked. Unfortunately I was majorly disappointed the smoke gets to the second step and then flows out, so no great looking waterfall effect. Sorry but it just doesn't work and I have tried three times to see if it was something I was doing.

Admittedly, I was skeptical of the videos I had seen of this incense burner, suspecting that they were enhanced in some way, but I can now attest that the waterfall effect of this burner using the provided incense cones is mesmerizing. Of course, to get this effect, the room must be cool, there can be no draft or even the slightest air movement, and one must use the special cones provided which include (according to the printed insert included with the purchase) a type of suede which creates a heavier-than-air smoke. The incense sticks included along with the cones do not produce the promised visual effect, nor will any other type of cone or stick. And, that's a problem if you burn incense for its fragrance. The problem is that the included incense cones, while they produce a captivating visual effect, completely lack a discernible added fragrance. Out-of-the-box, each cone--regardless of its color--smells like a chunk of plywood. Burned, they smell like a neighborhood house fire. There is nothing pleasant about this incense, which is required for to produce the desired visual effect. More accurately, rather than calling these cones "incense," they might be named "smokers."Packaging was awful. The ceramic burner is factory packed in a paperboard box thinly lined with styrofoam sheets. Amazon shipped this box in a plastic bag with no additional protection. By delivery, the box had been crushed at both ends, the bag containing the incense cones torn open, and incense cones and bits of electrostatically-charged bits of styrofoam strewn throughout. It was a mess to clean up. Surprisingly, the ceramic incense burner arrived unscathed.Final assessment: If you burn incense for the way it looks, this incense burner is for you. On the other hand, if you intend to burn incense for its aromatherapy benefits, understand that the visual effect of burning will be no different than with a standard cone or stick burner.

Pretty cool. Keep it out of direct drafts, and it falls pretty good.
