Like some other reviewers I had to drill new holes - in my case it was for the old small footprint 4-barrel intake on my 292 y-block Ford. I also would prefer full-length welds, but I tend to overbuild - what is there is adequate unless you really abuse it.

Did the job. Lifted all iron Chevy 350 with auto transmission (TH350) weighing around 750 lbs out and in. Plate is flat. Never gave cause for concern. Used the lifting ring to the rear on the way out in order to account for the transmission. The resulted in the engine/trans combo setting at 15 degrees from horizontal. This was not enough. On the way back in I used the center lift ring. This resulted in a 30 degree tilt. The balance was perfect. Had to apply a little hand pressure down to clear the fire wall and a little up hand pressure to clear the transmission cross member. This is perfect as I didn't want the added cost and height of adding a balance adjustment mechanism.
