I am new to using an Olympic recurve. Since the idea is to not tightly grip the bow when shooting, it is challenging to hold the bow without dropping it. If you watch competitions, you will see the competitors use strings to help hold their bows. This version is basically a shoelace that has been arranged so that your index and thumb are instead into two loops to keep the bow rise against the hand. It can be made snug by adjusting the white tightener. The small patch of leather is a nice touch to keep the finger sling from possibly scratching the riser. I slightly like the other style of sling which is a simple loop with plastic tightened that slide towards the fingers because it has less excess string hanging. This works perfectly well. You could also make your own with a shoelace.
