UPDATE... after swimming 2 or 3 times in this the fit seems a bit MORE large. Not sure if my other Sporti is going to do this, but the HydroLast brief I could have done in a 32 instead of 34. The leg openings particularly seem larger than when I first tried it on, but it is noticeable in the waist as well. I can keep it in the swimming rotation but if it stretches out more I will probably throw it in the emergency pile........Original reviewSizing for swim briefs is tricky. Many reviewers will mention the need to size up. Some people mention their jeans size (which of course are vanity sized). Some people just mention their waist size but don't mention if they are considering their jeans size to be their waist, or if they actually measured their waist.My measured waist is 34 and my hips are 35. But I wear jeans ranging from 30, 31 and 32 depending on the brand.At least with swim briefs there is room for some flexibility. I ordered the Sporti HydroLast in 34 and it is comfortable. The first time in the water I could tell they were not as tight as my Speedos in a 34. I did not make adjustments to the drawstring or even untie it. This might be the first time I have ever actually started to use a drawstring. But as of now after one swim, I don't feel a need to tighten them.I am a casual, recreational lap swimmer. No speed and no diving. And these felt secure without feeling super tight. If they stretch or if I slim down even an inch I will probably get size 32 the next time around.For comparisons, I have several Speedos in a 34 that are a consistently snug fit, definitely tighter than these but also comfortable for me. I have one pair of Arena briefs in a 32 that are also an ideal fit and I know I probably would not need a 34 in those. I also just got a TYR pair in a 34 waist and they're comfortable as well.As for leg openings, it's similar to the waist. Sporti is a little looser but still snug enough in the leg for my needs. Speedo, TYR, and Arena are more snug but still comfortable without feeling pinched or constricted.

This is a fantastic overall swimsuit! It is true to the photos I saw in fit and aesthetics! The bikini cut is classy! But the Desert Nights print isn't the only one I had my eyes on. I also love the "snake skin" and Sea Jellies varieties! It is very comfortable and the lining material up front is quite an advantage.

Size was perfect. suit looks great. Keeps everything very modest. The material is a bit rougher than I prefer but that is due to the material type. Overall not bad. We willsee how it stands up.

I love this suit - it's very comfortable. I ordered a size up from Amazon's recommended size, because I prefer an easier fit that isn't crazy compressive. So instead of my usual 32, I went with a 34. That made it just a touch more relaxed and less skin tight, but still fits me perfectly. The black looks great. Perfect for lap swimming.

The pair I received had one of its tie strings embedded inside of the swimsuit, so you could not tie the strings together around your waist. Maybe it's just a pair I got. Other than that, they were terrific.

I've been swimming with this suit 3 times a week for 7 weeks. I've also worn it into the hot tub and stream room after swim, and thus far this interesting blend of PBT and polyester fabric seems to be very tough and retains its fit. If anything changes I'll come back here and update but at this point, highly recommend.
