I do A LOT of metal working, both professionally and in my personal life. This was surprisingly good for the price, I’ll buy it again if I ever lose this one.

This isn't the most precise tap guide, and has a little slop and stickiness, but it does the job good enough.

Internal plunger jams at beginning of stroke. Sharp rough edges on internal parts which should slide freely cause galling and sticking. Even after some filing and polishing still jams. Spring is too strong, also, but that could be easily changed.

Works for what it is. Doesn't snap every time and it catches when pressed. There are better ones.

I have another tap guide that I bought a few years ago, I use it every day & decided I wanted a second one so I can leave one with my mill tools & have another with my lathe tools so I don't always have to run to the other side of the shop to grab it.... I wanted to buy the same Brown & Sharpe unit that I already have but they seem to be currently out of stock so I figured it's a simple tool does it really matter? Well the answer is yes, yes it does... This thing is seriously inferior.... It arrived today, & it's going back tomorrow...
