This is a standard well service switch assembly. 30 refers to the pressure that engages the pump, and 50 is the pressure point where the pump is shut off. The switch was factory set to a very close tolerance, so no adjustment was necessary after installation. My only dislike is that there has been a change since the older models; this one has a lever that you have to use to hold the relay in the "On" position when starting from zero pressure- I don't recall having to do that with the old one ever. All in all, a solid product from Square D which functions reliably from day to day.

Bought this for my shallow well pump. The original regulator didn't have low pressure shut off protection. While installing on a Drummond well pump I found that the threads were different. The square D pressure is standard npt threads and looks like the Drummond pump has metric. Almost a PITA moment, I was able to unscrew the back plates with the pipe fitting of both regulators and swap them. If you find yourself in a similar scenario make sure you swap the screws too. After reassembly, the square D went right on the pump. After priming the pump, I had to ride the shut off lever until pressure increased past the 20 psi shut off. Pressure continued increasing to the rated 50 psi then shut the pump off. A low pressure shut off should be standard on all pumps. It's cheap insurance that's easy to install and much cheaper than pump controllers that require allot of time to install. The square D literally goes on in place of the original regulator, how easy is that.

it has worked well for three years after I learned how to set the tank air pressure. You must set air pressure a little lower than the cut in pressure. If not the pressure will drop too much suddenly and the pump switch locks out. I have read instructions on these captive air tanks that say you should use the same pressure in the tank that the cut in pressure is. But this is not allowing any tolerance for a switch like this. Cut in pressure must be a little higher than what air pressure in the tank is. Over time the air leaks out so the problem does come back, but when you have to add air ( I do it annually) just be sure to set it when there is no water in it to about 28psi. Not 30psi. This is if the switch is set to 30 which it is supposed to be and mine was pretty close.

First things first there were no instructions included with this. I had to drive to the local Home Depot and open the box of one of their cheap Chinese copies to find installations instructions which I memorized and followed. It was a pretty straight forward job and only took me about 30'. Once installed the switch appeared to work well until my wife tried to run a load of laundry at which point it shut the well pump off! When. i called Tech Support at Square D the rep simply said, "The low pressure cut-off switch doesn't work correctly with some systems.". No apology was offered and when I asked if I could exchange the switch through him he said no I'd have to do,it thru Amazon. How is one supposed to know whether or not the switch will work with their well pump? I guess you just have to try it while keeping your fingers crossed. I'm trying to find the time to do the job all over again with the replacement switch I had to order...next time I think I'll stick with the old tried and true type of switch.

Nothing except the sticker barcode label on the box says "Square D". Both the cardboard box itself and the actual pressure switch are branded Pumptrol by Telemecanique Sensors. Looks decent and I'm sure will work... but not Square D. I specifically ordered this because I wanted Square D, so disappointed.
