I love this enclosure, especially that I compare with what I got before from other brand. Good and solid. No lock-click bending plastic - just normal screws making it stable, not flip-flopping inside. Screws are of appropriate size, not tiny/miniature. The cable is of usable length. Easy to assemble and feels solid. I used it for backup cloning of a drive. I am very much satisfied with the performance and the construction. Great product.

I've had a Samsung 1TB SSD in an external USB 2.0 case for the last few years. I use it to store backups of the files on my Windows 10 system. It works well, but I've always been disappointed in the throughput. I came across this case the other day and decided to see what USB C 3.1 could do for me.WOW!!! What a difference. Windows was always slow to write lots of small files to an external drive. That is not an issue anymore. My throughput is now 4 times faster with my same old SSD mounted in this new case. My backups are soooo much faster now. However, there are some recommendations I would like to suggest to the manufacturer.First, loose that stupid screwdriver you include with the case. It would probably work but it looks like it is designed to strip screw heads. I'm sure everyone that intends to use a case like this has access to MUCH better screwdrivers than the one that's included in the kit.Second, in place of that screwdriver add 4 small rubber feet that can be applied to the bottom of the case (I added my own). There are several reasons this case needs these feet:1) Better air circulation around the case will keep the drive cooler and will help it to last longer.2) It keeps the case from scratching whatever surface you place it on [and also prevents other things from scratching the bottom of the drive case].3) It keeps the case from sliding around [without the rubber feet, the case can shift around due to the stiff USB cord and any minor vibration that may occur].

After returning a flimsy and overly tight alternative that broke immediately during assembly, these excellent quality SSK aluminum enclosures are exactly what I was hoping for! Everything about these SSK enclosures feels like high quality to me. The outer case is nice and solid, and just looks and feels like high quality. The screws that are part of the design are also high quality and really give this enclosure an extra solid feel. Assembly is a breeze - a little screwdriver is even included! The inner carriage is plastic, but not flimsy. The plastic inner carriage surrounds all four sides of the hard drive, slides smoothly and neatly into the outer enclosure, and holds the hard drive snugly in-place. With reasonable care during assembly, it won't break like the poor quality alternative that I returned. I'm very impressed by these SSK 2.5" SATA hard drive aluminum enclosures!

This enclosure consists of a VERY thin internal plastic frame in which the drive is mounted and held in place by 4 screws. The back 2 screws extend out through holes in the (thick!) aluminum shell so there is at least some opportunity for heat transfer from the drive out to the exterior.Otherwise this enclosure works fine and produces the usual ~450 mb/sec transfer rates I'd expect from a SATA SSD under USB 3.1

Needed to move an 8TB Samsung SSD from an older and larger SSD shell to another enclosure. This was a good basic enclosure that does the job.The drive does not run excessively any hotter than my old enclosure with same use.The LED activity light is blue and not excessively bright.Solid feeling, if thin enclosure.Easy to assemble and secure the drive into the enclosure.Don't run heavy tasks, but I do open the Photos app (200GB+) on a Mac, and the app opens in under a minute.Great value drive enclosure for the price.

Just what I needed. I like that it is metal. It comes with some electrical insulating film if you wish to use it wit ha mechanical hard drive.

I have other drive enclosures that I had accumulated over the years, a couple are mostly plastic, others are thin stamped metal, some have bumpers. I even have a few portable mechanical drives from Big Names, and those are in thin metal or plastic. These enclosures are extruded aluminum, stiff and rigid. A bit heavier but far more sturdy. If you've ever accidentally twisted a thin enclosure, or set something heavy on it, you know you can kill the drive inside. Won't happen here. You do need a screwdriver to get into these, no big deal. USB 3 interface, good speed and so far trouble free.

The main body of the enclosure is aluminium which not only gives it a premium feel; but its solid enough to handle a trip in a bag or pocket. The inner part of the enclosure consists of a plastic tray that the hard drive sits in to and is secured by screws; which I think is fantastic as not only does it stop the HDD from bouncing around inside the enclosure (no fancy foam padding here), but also helps to keep the HDD nicely attached to the SATA connection. The supplied USB-C cable has a reasonably solid transfer speed when connected to a USB 3 (or 3.1) port. I have been using this HDD enclosure for a few months now, connecting it to multiple devices (laptop, smart phone, TV and an iPad) and I have not had a single problem with it yet. My only criticism is the lack of any "feet" to help stop it from sliding about and scratching up that nice aluminium casing. I did get around this problem by making my own "feet" though, using those little rubber draw stops you normally get when buying draws from Ikea. I just picked up a handful from the spares section at my local Ikea. Overall I am very happy with this enclosure.
