Works perfectly with an old Weller WP25 non-adjustable 450 degree soldering pencil. When they arrived I saw they were hollow, unlike the old, pitted, aged Weller tip I was replacing, which worried me. I don't solder a lot. I've always been a bit frustrated. But that, I'm pretty sure now, was because I was lacking a few critical tips about REWORKING (use flux, add solder, use good equipment). All my infrequent work in the past I was doing rework repairs. WHAT A JOY it was to do new work with new tips! Just like electrical, plumbing, carpentry - new work is always easiest and most fun. Zip zip zip kept my tip clean and tinned before each joint and not a single bad solder in two custom microphone build projects, over 100 solders with no problems with the tip at all: conducted heat very well and always tinned easily. I then did some reworking, replacing several caps on an audio mixing board. Maybe it was me, but these tips seem to perform better than anything I've struggled with in the past. In other words, I can attest they don't suck. Longevity? Dunno....

I've had these for over a year now. Still using the first tip and I use my soldering pencil almost every day! Really like them. Fast warm up. Perfect fit. Pointy!

The older I get, the more I dread soldering DIP headers. But I like to tinker with microcontrollers and other things that are often shipped with headers loose in the bag. Since switching the OEM tip on my soldering iron to this pencil tip, I find the task a lot less frustrating. I'm also finding it takes less solder to get a good connection. "The bigger the glob, the better the job?" Not anymore, my friends. Not with the pencil tip.

Like another reviewer I bought these to solder some surface-mount (SMD) components--resistors, capacitors, etc., in addition to some very small, tiny, micro, eeensy bitsy teeeeny tiny LEDs. The ST7 was the smallest point I could find that would fit my iron. Though not quite small enough for my purposes, I managed to make it work.The reason for the 5 stars is that I've put several hours on one of these tips so far and it still tins like it did when it was brand new. Not too pricey, and it does the job every time. Definitely recommend!
