Staedtler makes an excellent led for mechanical pencils and I decided to try their colored leads. They are worth every penny; great color, strong enough to stand up to my drawing pressure and covers the surface area nicely.

I bought these as replacement leads for my Koh-I-Noor 5217 lead holders. They work just how they are supposed to.

I have tried many 2mm colored pencil leads and wanted to try the Staedler brand to see if they were somehow superior. They are pretty normal - the colors are pretty vibrant though there is not too much variation - the picture does not do the brightness justice;(light) orange, a "red" that is more like vermillion, (maybe verdant) green, bright yellow, another red that is sort of crimson, and a (royal?) blue.Worth the buy for the quality.

The product heading is labeled Crimson, but it's actually carmine. Looks pretty dark red so that is what I was looking for.

I’d like to be able to review this lead, but I’ve spent the last 20 minutes and broken two fingernails trying to open it. I’ve had this lead in the graphite type before and had no issue opening it. I’ve watched tutorials thinking they changed the packaging. I’ve made sure the side that locks it is open. But the side that dispenses lead won’t open no matter what I do. There’s a plastic tab that goes through the back and it seems to be going through so far that it’s blocking it from opening. I can’t even pry the thing open with a knife!

Staedtler Mars Lumochrom 204 are great, they are two pieces of 6 colors, yellow, orange, red, carmine, green, and blue. All-time classic and great for sketching.

The leads are fragile. I received a couple which were broken. Even the packaging is not good.
