I just received the horn today, and my first impressions are very positive. It appears nicely lacquered with a decent mouthpiece and came in a well-made case with a polishing cloth and a pair of gloves. The black wrap isn't real leather but doesn't look cheap. I am primarily a pianist and euphonium player and occasionally play the trumpet, but I was able to immediately and easily play the usual series of bugle notes (C, G, C, E, G) and could probably go higher with a little work. The horn has a nice, clear tone.It's a fairly small horn, so I imagine the "pocket" version also available on Amazon is REALLY small. I think the size of this instrument is just right. It will be a fun way to play bugle calls and to call the kids to supper. :)According to the tag, this was designed in Europe and manufactured in China. Don't let that scare you. It's the only way to find an inexpensive new instrument these days. Chinese instrument manufacturing varies quite a bit in quality--I have had Chinese brass instruments that were pretty cheaply made, but also have a euphonium that rivals the quality of European instruments at about 1/5 the price. My initial impression is that this is one of the good ones. At any rate, without any valves there should not be issues with tolerances/finishing of moving parts.Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality of the horn, especially for under 125 bucks. I will plan to update this review in a few months to reflect ongoing experience.

I am a French Horn player and thought that this may be, in some way, like a natural horn (or sort of like one!) It is small and I'm not sure you could do anything like hand-stopping with it (which you do with a natural horn, which has no valves). This horn is more like a bugle, and I think it plays about the same notes. It may be largely a novelty, but if you'd like a bugle in horn shape, it's not a bad buy. It's fun, anyway.

This horn was exactly what I was expecting. The sound quality is good and it looks as sharp in person as it did in the pictures. The case construction is top notch. The extra side pocket for cloths and mouthpiece is a boon. I only wish it was easy to keep the inside clean to keep it sounding as crisp as it did when it was new.
