Drop-In Female Anchors with Setting Tools for Concrete and Stone Applications

  • Corrosion and rust resistant 304 Stainless Steel anchors
  • Used in flush-mount applications in solid base materials
  • Matching setting tool included in each pack

A Drop In anchor is a female (internal) threaded concrete anchor, often installed overhead that runs flush with the surface of concrete or stone. To install a Drop In Anchor in a drilled hole properly, anchor is installed into the hole in the masonry material, the set tool is then placed in the middle of the threaded portion and struck with a hammer to ensure that the anchor has set correctly.

Stainless Steel Drop In Anchors with Setting Tool

304 Stainless Steel

All drop in anchors in this selection are made of 304 stainless steel. This grade of stainless steel is corrosion and rust resistant, making these more masonry anchors more durable and suited for long lasting applications, even those exposed to the elements.

Installation

Drop in Anchors require a special setting tool for proper installation. The size of the tool is specific to the size of the anchor, and these bundles include both the anchors and matching set tool. After a hole is drilled into the masonry material, the drop in anchor is... well, dropped in (hence the name). The thinner portion of the tool is inserted into the anchor, and the back is struck with a hammer. This causes the anchor to expand, and embed itself into the concrete for a snug fit.

Installed Drop In Anchor

Common Uses

Drop In Masonry anchors have a heavy duty anchoring system, and feature female machined threads. They are commonly used with machine screws, bolts and threaded rod to anchor fixtures to concrete and other masonry materials. Because of its design, drop in anchors are also commonly used on temporary structures. Though the anchor itself is in the concrete for good, the bolt that you are anchoring the fixture with can be removed and reused.

I got these specifically because they were stainless steel and not galvanized coated.I needed something sturdy and permanent to mount a handrail for my pool. He's worked great. Easy install and expanded perfectly to the concrete for a kite secure fit.

The inserts install easily with the supplied instillation tool. They install securely without needing excessive force to get them to expand tightly in the drilled hole. These inserts have about 5/8” of thread depth after installation so plan accordingly.

Took me a while to use these but when I did I found 6 out of the 20 missing the inserts to make them expand in the hole. Good thing I only needed 8 for my project. Check them as soon as you get them so you can try getting replacements from seller. Otherwise they seem to work well. Would be nice if they told you drill size to use and how to figure out length of bolts to use.

Tricky to install even if drilled to correct depth and with. 9/10 they set correctly. A couple in the package are missing the plastic setting centers.

Overall, the drop-in anchors seem to work the way they should. I subtracted from their rating because 10 percent of the lot was technically defective. You cannot expand the anchors without the inner expansion plugs.

The original shipment contained 20 anchors as advertised, but the pin had fallen out of one, and the pins were completely missing for two more. I needed all 20 anchors for my project, and thankfully, the seller shipped 3 replacement anchors to me. The anchors themselves are high quality: they are easy to install, low profile, and hold securely.

Perhaps the expansion material changed with shed temperature, don't know; the thing was that hammering with the tool as specified did not make the expansion plug go down or do what it was intended, instead it kept its place, and the entire anchor kept going down into the concrete, now I have a mess. I'd say poor design, definitely would not recommend, at least for me it became a headache.
