The item is very sturdy and I do like how well it fits my existing pot. I have made it with a few batters now (some with more egg, or milk instead of water). I had great luck with the first one I made, the second time was too firm, and the third worked ok. So if at first you don't succeed, try again!I do recommend that you use oven mitts as steam does come through the holes, the lid gets hot, and figuring out how to use it does take a moment... Not too long and next time it will be much easier. Dough needs to be firm, but not too firm. That really was what I feel was my biggest issue. I do like that it cleaned up easily, and is dishwasher safe.Edit: I had an issue with my original order, (Amazon fulfilment issue), they responded very quickly and shipped me a new one. Thankfully, this one was all intact!Received the item without the scraper and the item's package was opened.I purchased this for my uncle's birthday, and as I didn't have time to return it, receive a new one, and make the dumplings in time, I decided to use my personal spatula instead. (Now that I have the full product, I don't recommend using your own, the spatula that it comes with is much better than mine... I managed to snap one of mine in half.)

Pretty much a foolproof method and quite frankly very handy for making my favorite (pasta or dumpling) Spaetzle noodles. Much easier and far quicker than how my Austrian family did it in the old days.

The wholes are a bit small for my liking so the Spatzle turns out smaller than I like. But otherwise the product is great and it sits fairly stable on the pot.

So easy to make. Add some bacon, mushrooms, and onion to make an amazing dish. And don't forget the butter. I had always used a colander to make it before and while that works, the cleanup is horrible. Other makers are large and difficult to store. This one is slim and is perfect for making good spätzle.

My mother used to cut German noodle dough into boiling water with a knife, making some huge and some small noodles. This device is great for making more consistent sized noodles and it is a snap to clean as long as you get it soaking in some water right after use. Don't let the dough dry on it, or you'll be soaking all night. Dishwasher safe too.

Now I see this noted before and wished I had read it - since the strainer sets over the water and gets hot, much of the batter cooks and sticks to the strainer before it ever goes into the water (even if oiled). I've always had the "grater with a basket" maker and that is a much better item for making spaetzle (you briefly hold it over the water and it doesn't heat up). Once the batter sticks, it's tough to get off.I liked the simplicity and construction of this maker enough to order two (for me and daughter) and it is very well made. In practice it's just more work and lesser results than the basket type maker. It does make a good food strainer and steamerSorry

This is a well made product that makes Spaetzle in a jiffy. It's easy and fun to make noodles, and the tool is easy to clean up and store.Only downside is it is too easy to make noodles, and I find myself eating them with everything. :-) Carb loading has its place, but not every meal.This is a no brainer for your kitchen. It will last longer than you will-especially if you use it as often as I do!

Fits over my pot perfectly, cuts the dough so it doesn't stick, easy to use and to clean up. Very happy with my Spaetzle maker! Also doubles as a pasta strainer!
