Today nd for the year I've finished with these spile. I want to say they have performed very well. This has been my first try at maple syrup, and from the experience I have found out why hobbyists love it. Homemade syrup doesn't even taste like store bought. I think once someone has had homemade they can never go back to the mass produced stuff. Anyway, about these spile. They have been perfect. I drilled the 45 degree hole, inserted them, and out poured the liquid into the buckets that hung on the furnished hooks. Finished with the project, today I pulled them thinking I'd be tugging and twisting. But they removed very easily. They are washed, and I ran a q tip in to dry them, and they back in the package they came in for storing until next season. If I make a larger production next year I will buy more of these. Works well. Does what they are suppose to. I didn’t get my tree tapped early enough so only got a few quarts of sap. But it did the job. Will get the taps in earlier next year.

One of the 5 taps arrived with a giant hole in it, making it useless for sap collection- it will leak all of the sap everywhere and not direct it into the collection bucket. Very disappointed.
