This is a big, heavy-duty utensil which gives a very fine grate. The large surface area actually makes the grating go faster.A+ for build quality.

This might be great for some other use, but I needed it specificaly for zesting citrus, and found it too coarse, cutting too deep into the fruit.

My main uses for this Ultra Fine Micro Plane grater is to grate fresh ginger/garlic, to make it rain with parmesan cheese and grate citrus rind. Boy, it does each of those things exceedingly well. The grating teeth are incredibly sharp. It comes with a plastic guard and you are going to want to use that when you store it.The handle has a nice feel and the opposite end comes with a non-skid piece to hold it securely in place. This size and shape seems more versatile than the narrow file type rasps. The stainless steel blade cleans up with just a rinse unless you grated cheese then soap and a scrub or toss into the dishwasher. Just be careful, like I posted in the headline, it is sharp! I absolutely recommend this grater.

I use this for all my micro grating purposes. It's great for zesting, chocolate shavings, garlic grating, and even cheese! It's easy to use, works well, and I just toss it in the dishwasher to clean!
