Worked perfectly

I had one of these fail on my G30 chevy van. The failure point was water infiltrating the small space between the black plastic and the steel grounding plate. Two small rivets hold these flat pieces together, hence, the inside space is very exposed to the elements.Inside, you will find a small disc ceramic resistor coated in copper on both sides, smushed between a copper contact and the metal grounding plate. They halfhazardly put nonconductive thermal compound between the ceramic reisister and the metal grounding plate. When water gets in, it reduces the conductivity between the ceramic resister and the metal grounding plate to zero.Instead of making the same mistake twice, I returned this item, removed the rivets on the old one, and made a *conductive* thermal compound mixing computer-grade thermal paste, copper dust, and powdered graphite. I applied a pea-sized amount between the ceramic disc and the metal grounding plate and smushed it with a vice overnight. I reesembled it without rivets, opting for a small ~1mm bead of epoxy JB-Weld along the exterior of the grounding plate, squeezing it with four clamps on all sides against the plastic housing, so that water would never infiltrate this part again.
