Bought this back in September, but I'm just now installing it. It is very well made, but made very well wrong (when u try to use it). Just now coming back to check other reviews & most are after my purchase date.Yes, it is upside down (fixed), but I had 2 different plugs to try in it. One wouldn't fit & the other would almost fit (after shaving plastic on the female plug) if the prongs were not so shallow (or the prong plate not so deep). I think it gets a slight bite, but not worth trying because if it didn't heat up on that small bite any movement could pull it out.A shame someone spent all that time to make it well but spent little time to make it according to the standard it was advertised & purchased on.

Overall the box is great. I'm using it to connect a generator to our house during a power outage. The connector in the box is installed upside down and a 90 deg RV 30A extension cord won't plug in. The socket can be removed from the box, use a wood chisel to knock off the locating pin in the cover, rotate the socket 180 deg and reinstall. A standard RV 30A 90 deg cord will now plug in with the cord facing down. I have an old cord that has a short female end that will not seat in the box, a newer cord with a longer connector works fine.

As noted by others, the ground prong is 180 degrees out of place. This is easily corrected, however the next issue was the hole to plug into is 2 inches ID and my cord plug is 2.1 inches OD. So know I'm faced with pulling this box off the wall and replacing it.

I have both the male and female version of this, used for a portable solar setup. The plug in this male version is designed incorrectly, as most all 30 amp cords have right angle female ends, and these prongs are up-side-down. This was able to be changed, but needed a slight modification as there was an alignment pin internally.

I had 3 problems with this. First, the pin carrier was broken off from the carrier assembly. Second, the reason it was broken is probably that someone tried to force a cable into the socket and broke it, returned it, then it was sent to me. Some cables are too tight to fit inside the socket - the pins line up but the overall socket diameter of this inlet is smaller than others, so only some cables fit. Third issue is that many or most cables have the ground pin at the bottom, but this only supports ground at the top which prevents inserting a cable that has a right angle because this inlet lid is in the way. It's simple enough to flip the carrier on the cover plate, but doing so requires drilling a new pilot hole in the carrier so it can be screwed onto the cover plate flipped by 90 degrees. I discovered all this only after the 30 day return policy expired.

It works great, very ez to install it, you can spend more but why this works just as good.

1) le design est renversé (tête en bas) ce qui fait en sorte qu'aucun adapteur 90° ne fonctionne. 2) Peu de temps après l'avoir installé, les coins où se trouvent les vis ce sont mis à craquer permettant à l'eau de s'infiltrer. 3) Le rebord du connecteur sont trop sérrés, beaucoup d'adaptateur même droit n'entrent pas. Bref, Amazon ne devrait même pas vendre ce produit, c'est une perte d'argent et une perte de temps à installer !

At first look the plug looked to be made well. After installing I noticed that the plug was upside down and the door prevent you from plugging in the cord. I tried unscrewing it and turning it around so it would fit properly and then that’s when I realized the hole did not allow you to you a standard RV cord. This is not a standard TT-30 outlet and is not compatible with standard 30amp RV plugs.

Mise à jour. La prise a brisé dès sa première utilisation au froid (-3 celsius). Produit de très mauvaise qualité.La prise vient avec une bague de retenue par vissage, ce qui n'est pas utile ou nécessaire sur ce genre de connexion (TT-30P). Cela empêche de procéder à une connection complète et sécuritaire, car il n'y a que la moitié des connecteurs qui font contact. Pour le reste, le boitier semble solide et étanche.
