It works as designed, but the small arms make for difficult set up. I am constantly fitting it to get the gauge set just right as it has limited range. I think the longer armed version would be better for a larger variety of uses.

Starrett,A name you used to be able to trust.A quality product manufactured in the United States.Apparently NOT anymore.Made in CHINA. Cannot believe Starrett is now Chinese junk. UNBELIEVABLE.

This is pretty decent for what it does, but you have to make sure the surface it’s on is spotless and flat so that the magnet has the best grip it can get. It will absolutely throw your measurements off .005” or more because of the magnet moving.I wouldn’t buy it again. Way too much money for such a weak magnet. Nice because it’s small, terrible because of how easy it is to throw off a measurement.

I was a bit suprised at first when I opened the box for this holder at how small the magnet and arm are. that has actually been a good thing. this holder will go into places that a larger magnet would not and it holds very well. only problem has been that the thumb screw that holds the dovetail on the indicator will actually lock itself down, making it a pain to remove the indicator. But that is better than the indicator falling out, so it is a minor issue.

Same chinesiam junk but with a fancy red box, the mag it’s self is about on third size scale, and it doesn’t feel that smooth. I’m a Starrett fan so I choose this over the similar priced noga and it was definitely a mistake. Hate to say it but your paying for the name and fancy box.

Junk!!! Ball popped out of joint closest to thumb screw the 3rd or 4th time I used it. Popped it back in,but it won't stay.Comes back out as soon as you slightly tighten arm. Very disappointed. Also thought I was buying an American made product,being Starrett.MADE IN CHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
