After several uses, the ash grate conformed to my wrought iron wood grate. Keeps the small embers in the fire until they are turned into ash.

The holes are a little too big and still drop tiny coals and ash but works for what I needed, a log grate to keep coals hot. As a bonus, can be used to set a pan on as well if you have a Dutch oven for your fireplace or wood stove.

Needed this for our fireplace grate that I had also ordered from Amazon. Upon using the grate I realized I needed something to catch the embers. After researching I decided to go with this one. Couldn't exactly find one that would fit in my grate based on its size. This feels very sturdy. Seems to hold the weight of the wood pretty good so far. Gonna light a fire just to see how well it holds up under the heat. Stay tuned

I used this under normal conditions in a regular sized indoor, home fireplace. It melted in several areas in 3 weeks.
