This roll of steel wool in the medium grade works well for cleaning up metal that has oxidized or has surface rust. We use it all the time in the shop, and nothing works better. I would have preferred the wool in batt form rather packaged as a continuous roll, but it's easy enough to cut to length.

I guess the usefulness of this 11ft roll of steel wool, which arrived as grade #0 despite ordering grade #0000, is going to depend entirely on your plans for it. For woodworking of any description, I'd swerve it. It sheds so easily and readily that it's absolutely everywhere in the blink of an eye - all snagged in the grain and any knicks instantly, and a fine powder of the stuff everywhere else.I was not a fan. The value for money aspect of $7 for 11ft is somewhat moot if it's disintegrating before your very eyes. I'll stick to pads.
