There are lots of window breakers out there, but these have a great feature I haven't seen elsewhere. They are the typical size, typical belt cutter, hardened (appear to be carbide) points. The glow in the dark handle isn't very bright, but until they design one with a lithium battery and LEDs that is a moot point. The BEST part of this tool, and what makes it unique, is the breaker on the TOP of the tool. It can sometimes be difficult to swing a window breaker, especially underwater. The top of the tool has a built in automatic center punch. An automatic center punch is typically about the size of a roll of pennies, with a spring loaded point. You press it against a metal surface and push. The point pushes into the handle for a short distance then snaps like you hit it with a hammer. They are normally used for putting a locating dent in metal before drilling, but work great for breaking glass (I carried one in my car for years). This tool has an automatic punch on the top of the tool, that works great for breaking the glass without swinging the tool. Well made and well thought-out design.

This emergency hammer is on the small side but seems to be well-made. Haven’t had to use it yet thankfully.

So i thought this would be a item that just sits and collects dust in a center console forever. Last night we were coming home from a up north trip riding side by sides with friend. Driving home in some bad icy and snowy weather i seen a truck on the side of the road upside down and in a ditch full of ice water. With No emergency services on site my wife and i pulled over to see if someone needed help. There were two people trapped in the vehicle. Seeing the doors could not be opened and widows were no able to be used we used this hammer to break the windows so we could get the people out. Worked great however if your buying this item buy gloves as well and put them with the hammer. I would recomend thin rubber coated ones. I cut my hand badly when i broke the window. Common sense until your in a reaction situation and dont think to put gloves on first. I used the spring loaded punch thinking i would be safe enough from cutting myself however was obviously wrong.

These are small and pretty light. Don't know how useful they will be in an accident situation. Did test the spring loaded glass smasher and the spring seems to work fine and provides a pretty powerful punch. Doesn't have a lot of heft. question how effective this will be in smashing a car window. Hope to never have to use it. Wish I had a way of attaching it somewhere handy. Will rig up a clip on the inside of the console on the passenger side so it doesn't interfere with my gas pedal leg.

I think this product is well made but needs a warning about the button on the top of the hammer. I pushed down on the button and heard a click so I thought good the hammer is now cocked and ready to release. But no, the button on top contains the spring loaded point! The click after the pushing down of the "button" is the point in the "button" being released to do it's damage! So it is not a button to push but rather you push the button against the glass until you hear a click which is the point coming fast to the top of the "button to shatter the glass. Lucky thing that I didn't put a hole in my thumb. The hammer point itself is not spring loaded, you just use it to hammer manually. So the thing has two points.

Be sure to read the instructions and try the release button. Will help to know proper use if strength or angle during a situation is limited.

This is a perfect engineered product, function 20-30% better than other similar products, except the price is a little expensive. Mind you that you can always carry a normal hammer, but it's heavy and long, and you don't want the cops to doubt its use, so this function the same / better with no worries of its intended usage.

Great product, but be aware that new cars (some 2013 and up)have new glass that doesn’t break but the seat belt cutter works. Knowledge and the right tools saves life’s!

Haven’t used it yet but it is sturdy and exactly what it says it is. I feel confident it will do the job if it became necessary to use. Definitely not cheaply made.
