I paint cards for our family and friends for many occasions. These Strathmore watercolor cards are perfect; this is at least my second purchase of this item. They are outstanding quality and allow me to create cards using watercolor paints, my preferred medium, but they’ll work with many other mediums as well. These are acid free, cold press 140 lb. paper, approximately 5†X 7†with envelopes that match. I’ve been successful using just about every watercolor technique you can think of, with no problems. The paper usually remains flat, but if they buckle a bit because I’ve used lots of water, I’m always able to flatten them. The envelopes have glue on the flaps, making the cards easy to close securely to mail. The cost is very reasonable, and the people I love get personally painted cards rather than commercial store bought. I know I’ll buy these cards again.

I've been using these for many, many years, making my own Christmas cards and other greeting cards. I don't paint or print directly onto the card, even though you most certainly can do that, since the cards are a high-quality watercolor paper stock. Instead, I either paint onto separately purchased 4x6 inch watercolor cards, or I make prints, running them through my Epson printer. Then I use four little strips of two-sided Scotch tape to affix the 4x6 card onto the 5x7 Strathmore card. The envelopes are high quality with a lovely deckle edge on the flap. I will never use any other brand than Strathmore for my greeting card projects.

These are 140# cold press. acid free, as well, but the description includes that. :) Envelope flap has a raw edge (looks rough-torn, rather than smooth, crisp edge). This may be unique to my set, as it's possible the die that cut them was just dull or something, but as all 50 are the same, I felt it would be fair to share. Personally, I like the rough edge, as it hints to the handmade card inside. Easy enough to cut a clean edge, if that's your preference.I saw a review that said the cards they received weren't white. The ones I received were white. I would call them pure white, but when held up next to their envelope there is a barely discernible difference, with the card being a tiny hint less bright. I'd chalk that up to the surface texture.They arrive as flat sheets, with a crease line impressed in the paper. Paint before or after folding, for whatever effect suits your project.Mine came in different packaging from picture, as Strathmore has a habit of changing packaging regularly. Have no fear if the box looks a bit different!These cards are fantastic for watercolor paint and pencil, and have a rougher surface than the Strathmore mixed media cards, which i also enjoy. I prefer the mixed media's smoother surface for a greeting card, but find it takes more effort to control water usage to prevent buckling.Hopefully this is helpful info for anyone considering this purchase. :)

I individually paint my winter cards each year. I paint the design on smaller watercolor papers, mount them on a narrow, colored backing, & mount on the watercolor cards. Creates less expensive waste if i make a mistake, & the cards create a very nice professional presentation.
