As expected, the quality of this part is excellent. The red paint doesn't quite match the intake, but I ended up painting it black anyway. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this rugged bar is attached using the same small studs that attach the firewall braces. (torqued to Subaru factory spec of 12 ft-lbs) From an engineering standpoint the bar size is way overkill compared to the studs to which it is attached. And, the mounting holes are slotted, so any side force will likely just cause the bar to slip on the bolts. I guess it might add a little bit of stability under high loads and rough track conditions, but let's face it - it's there mainly for looks, and it looks great.I wish I had looked at the other offerings for this function from other manufacturers. Some have more attachment points, cost less, and would be more likely to actually add some stiffness.
