Good quality sugar maple charcoal for grilling or filtering. Used it for both, and absolutely no complaints.

I like the mild nature of the charcoal and I like that this seems to be a single content product. It doesn't seem to be a blend so you shouldn't be surprised by how it smells or burns. The maple charcoal seems to burn a bit hotter in my grill than some other types of wood. It also seems to burn a bit faster. That can be managed of course but does put a bit more responsibility on the griller to pay attention. The wood is a bit brittle and can shatter which leads to smaller pieces in the bag at times. I don't have a problem with my relatively modest grill/offset setup but some folks may be disappointed that the ratio of larger pieces is a bit different than some harder woods. I am giving it four stars just to alert folks to that issue. I will continue to use this charcoal based on the consistency of the product having ordered and used several bags of it.

It has a lot of variation in size of briquettes. Generally the larger the pieces the better, but hey, itΓ’β¬β’s charcoal.
