How does Moss Cotton Thread work?

Our green cotton string is used to tie down floating plants such as java fern, willow plant, duckweed, hornwort and more. These types of aquatic plants are lightweight and will float around the surface of your tank, if allowed. This special string is ideal for attaching plants to rocks, coconut husk huts and pieces of driftwood. After the plants have taken root to the surface, the cotton thread dissolves gradually, leaving no trace.

Can I use this plant string in any tank?

Yes, the SunGrow Cotton thread will not affect your plants and pets. The quiet dark green color of the plant string is designed to be so similar in color to its original counterparts that it remains inconspicuous and doesn’t take away the sheen from your amazing underwater habitat. The discreet thread can be used in shrimp and betta fish tanks, freshwater community aquariums filled with guppies, mollies, and tetras or an all-plant water terrarium.

Are there any other uses for this special cotton thread?

You may use SunGrow’s thread in home gardening and do-it-yourself activities. The 65 feet (20 meter) length of Cotton thread can easily be cut into smaller lengths for various projects. Nothing wrong with this thread, works fine. The word moss in the description is misleading because this is just regular thread. I think the color must be “Moss”. Probably could have found it cheaper if I didn’t think I was getting thread made from moss.

I bought a couple bunches of moss and an anubius. Then realized I had no way to attach them to my spider wood. This was the solution. Simply tie your plants on and they will do the rest. Christmas moss was tricky until I figured out to just wrap around it in clumps and it will attach to the wood in a couple weeks.

Used to tie moss onto a piece of spider wood. Worked good and barely noticeable.

This isn't moss, just moss colored. Try pulling or stretching it, it is as strong as synthetic threads.My big aquarium fish ate the frozen fish attached to this thread and the thread wouldn't break even with razor teeth, it just thrashed about and almost choked it to death.

The product image and title describes this product as "dark green" but it is bright lime green color and does not blend in at all like I was hoping. Overpriced and not what I wanted.

It’s just regular sewing string. Description lead me to believe this was some type of special thread for aquariums.
