Most residential units don't have individual shutoffs, which would allow you to pump down into the condenser and lock it in so you can replace a low or high side pressure switch. High side switches fail when the condenser fan motor goes out and your unit cycles due to the high pressure that bad fan causes. You can do this yourself: I used this with a tee on the high side with some refrigerant-friendly thread lock. All you do is screw this switch onto the new tee and then onto the high-side port. Move the two wires off the old switch onto this new switch, and make sure you have that fan replaced by a professional! A new fan on Amazon is usually $170. Have it installed and you just saved almost $2000. You're welcome!
