As a huge fan of world music in general I figured I wouldn't go wrong with this set. The gong is thick, but not solid (completely hollow on one side), and has an adorable, tinny sound. the cymbals are great for small hands. Gong sounds better with a felt mallet. The cymbals and the gong are made from a thick metal material, but I do not think it is brass or copper. More of a colored alloy, but it is metal.4 3/4" total length of the gong and cymbals.12 3/4" total length of the ribbon. Should have included another 12" for the both items.Few sharp edges, but no dings or scratches or serious manufacturing defects.

This has been fun to play with. The sound is not a sweet as I expected but it's ok. Easy to assemble. Sturdy enough to handle children playing with them. No rough edges. 9/10
