About this item

  • RELIABLE EMERGENCY LIGHTING: The Sure-Lites CU2-LED Emergency Light is designed to provide a reliable and cost-effective solution for egress system lighting. With long life LED's and proprietary optics, the emergency light is built to last and provide optimal illumination in emergency situations.
  • EASY INSTALLATION: The patented easy hang feature of the CU2-LED Emergency Light makes installation quick and easy, reducing installation time and cost. The hands-free EZ Hang feature allows the installer to hang the emergency light face from the back plate, making power connections a breeze.
  • ADVANCED CIRCUITRY: With dual voltage AC input, brownout circuit, low voltage disconnect, overload/short circuit protection, and a 3.6V battery backup, the CU2-LED Emergency Light offers added safety and reliability. The low voltage disconnect prevents deep battery discharge, while the brownout circuit activates the emergency light heads when AC power is reduced.
  • HIGH QUALITY DESIGN: The housing construction is aesthetically pleasing with a thin profile. The components are injection-molded, color stable, and made of high impact thermoplastic. The light is suitable for both ceiling and wall mount applications with a universal J-box mounting pattern and keyhole mounting slots.
  • DURABLE: The CU2-LED Emergency Light is UL924 listed and compliant with most state and local codes, including Damp Location, Life Safety NFPA 101, NEC/OSHA. The sealed nickel-cadmium battery offers a full recharge time of 24 hours (max.) at 120/277V or 48 hours at 240V. The emergency light comes with a five-year warranty for added peace of mind.

The Sure-Lites CU2-LED emergency light is designed to reduce egress system cost and maintenance as well as improve reliability. Key features include long life led’s, proprietary optics, and a nickel cadmium battery. The patented easy hang feature reduces installation time and cost.

Amazon Review of the Lamp AssemblyFirst, the mounting plate has places to drill, but the instructions do not say what size drill bit. Second, you have to guess which holes to drill, depending on the junction box that is being used. Third, the picture showed three (3) batteries, only one is used, less current and life. Fourth, the hole for the tab to be used as a 'hanger' during install, is too small and the tab had to be hammered (pressured) into it, only to then not want to come out of it. Fifth, once the mounting plate is attached to the junction box, there is no way to get the wire through the hole you drilled if the wires are short, thus you have to feed the lamp's wires into the mounting plate while holding the mounting plate and thus trying to install the mounting screws. Yeh! I had to add extender wires to the existing junction box wires in order to make this work. Sixth, do not forget to plug in the battery, where, well there is no picture, but it is somewhere on the circuit board. Seventh, the wire nut for blocking off the 220VAC wire is too large for the wire, it slips off easily. Eighth, once you have it wired, and the mounting platform installed, now you have to somehow get the tabs to fit, and click the unit to the mounting platform, but if the mounting platform is too tight to the ceiling this cannot be done. If you loosen the mounting platform screws you can, maybe, be able to snap the pcs together, but then it hangs loose from the ceiling and leaves a space for bugs and other little critters. Ninth, about this time you throw everything back in the box and send this piece of POOR ENGINEERING back to the seller for a full refund.Update: Sent it back but thought about something last night. The item is delivered with the mounting plate installed, and instructions to use a flat blade screwdriver to open it by placing the blade in the two slots. Once you install the unit, and snap the housing to the mounting plate, the two slots are now hidden against the wall or ceiling and you cannot get to each ever again, so what do you do if you have to change the battery, i.e. smash the unit to bits ?PS: I wrote the book, Electrical Blueprint Reading, and the book Innovative Small House Construction and have designed and built duplex units and taught Residential and Commercial Electrical wiring.
