The tapered wood handle is easy to hold. The rod is affixed securely in place with glue. This larger size fero rod will last alot longer than some of these smaller ones available here. The included striker works great and easily throws showers of sparks. A must have for camping and for survival kits.

We got this to keep in our emergency bag. We live in an area where it gets pretty frigid cold. This was a must have item to keep handy with us in the car, not to mention it was well priced. We tested it out and it works like a charm.

The 3/8 is good diameter for getting lots of sparks per strike. Good quality, feels solid in your hand. The whistle……mehhhh.

If you hike into the wilderness, which I do extensively, and sometimes plan on camping to spend the night a ferro rod is an essential tool to always have on hand. This one has a wood handle to make holding the rod easier and safer. Included are a scraper and emergency whistle all attached with a 10ft length of paracord. The scraper has a few other handy tools built into its design such as a bottle opener, tinder scraper, and imprinted scale lines for map use. Just get it and toss it in your backpack. You'll be glad you did when it's needed.
