As an experienced astrophotographer, clarity in optics means everything. This diagonal from SVBony was a very pleasant surprise in both build quality and optical clarity. It is very close in performance to many higher end diagonals I've tried. This was exactly what I needed for showing friends and family views of star clusters, galaxies, and bright nebulas.The eyepiece is clear to about 95% of the edge (at least). The zoom is surprisingly clear throughout it's entire range. Build quality is very nice with a solid hefty feel. Would make a great all around zoom for star parties as well as backyard observing.The mirror in the diagonal was flawless from my first observations and fits on perfectly in my 102 Mak, my 8" SCT, and my 72mm refractor as long as I'm using the 1.25" adapter. The dielectric properties really make this diagonal shine, literally. I can see almost no falloff in transmission and zero internal reflections thanks to the blackened internal coatings.Considering the price, you are getting a top notch instrument with 99% reflectivity and fits a sweet spot between the ultra high priced versions that do not offer much more performance, and the bargain eyepieces that really do not offer enough detail and clarity. Would be perfect for a travel scope as well because it's light and packable, and comes in a nice package that is reusable. I would certainly recommend this for starting out in visual astronomy before moving up to the more expensive 2" optics.

The diagonal worked perfectly, and the interior was already blacked out. (I saw an earlier review that mentioned the interior wasn't blacked.) The zoom eyepiece worked just fine, too! Overall very pleased.
