Product Description

Zoom from low to high power in an instant with SV135 versatile eyepiece

zoom eyepiece

SV135 fully multi-coated zoom plossl eyepiece zooms to any focal length between 7 mm and 21 mm - pick the better magnification for your subject. As a beginner; SV135 zoom eyepiece is good for starter astronomer!

7mm-21mm linear continuous zoom

The SV135 is stiff enough not to accidentally change focus and smooth enough to rotate without having to hold the eyepiece base with your other hand. 7-21mm which will give you a wide range of magnification options. This is especially useful in lunar observing where one short barrel twist at a time will bring you closer, closer, and closer still to the Moon’s craters and mountain ranges to the point where you get the feel of looking down at the lunar surface from an orbiting space station.

Great addition for beginner astronomer. I was always losing the target when changing eyepieces. This allows me to zoom from 35x magnification for 100 x magnification with my 700mm inexpensive refractor telescope. This would be a great addition for kids learning . The light loss as mag increases is expected. The eye relief is great, even at the 7mm zoom. Well built zoom eyepiece at a reasonable price.

The zoom has the following good points: Low scatter, high contrast, sharp to the edge at all focal lengths at f7.5, extremely good flare control, fairly good eye relief (not quite enough for glasses wearers), and smooth zooming. What's not to like?Well... A fairly narrow field of view at 21mm, and not all that wide at 7mm. Still, this is wider than the sometimes cheaper, narrower angle, 7-21mm sold by some other dealers, and the wider field is better corrected. You can't see what magnification you are using in the dark without using a light. This is where zooms with click stops come in handy. Even with a light, comparisons with fixed eyepieces show that the focal lengths marked on the barrel are longer than what the eyepiece provides by a significant margin, at least in the middle marks. Hence, you are using significantly more magnification than you might believe. That said, I use this over the much more expensive Baader zoom. The optical quality of the Svbony is matched by the viewing comfort. Here is the obligatory, "I have Takahashi and Baader orthos, but I use this zoom for my planetary viewing." I paid $50. What I got was a high performance eyepiece that I can comfortably sit and look through for hours.

When I was looking at reviews I had seen other reviewers noting little imperfections (possibly dirt?) in the optics of these, so I looked for it straight off when I received mine, and sure enough it has a small black speck on the inside of one of the lenses. I would not have noticed it if I had not been looking for it, and I decided after trying it out that it affected my viewing pleasure insignificantly at this price point. If this was a $100 or up optic as all the other comparable zooms are I would not have tolerated it, but I am so happy with the overall build and performance of the zoom I decided not to worry about it. In normal use I don't even notice the speck, it takes intentionally looking for it for me to notice. I guess they need a cleaner work space or better air filtration or something where they assemble these, but I found nothing comparable at a comparable price anywhere (and I looked a lot) so I still recommend, though I also recommend a close inspection on arrival and actually using it to see if any imperfections affect your viewing experience. I use mine with a Meade StarPro AZ 70 f/10 for a 33x to 100x zoom range and it performs great throughout the range. If anyone is just getting started, looking for a great terrestrial viewer with an easy entry into planetary and moon viewing I am thrilled with the combination (I spent $200 combined - if you have a higher budget you might consider the larger StarPro 80, 90 or 102). Anyway, I love what I ended up with on a $200 budget and this zoom lens being priced so well has really lead to an even better overall experience than I expected on my limited budget. It's really simple to use and a lot of fun.

I have a Baader Mark IV 8-24mm zoom that I use with my telescope. I got this Svbony 7 to 21mm for my son to use with his telescope. I haven't done a good side by side comparison with them, but from what I have seen of this Svbony, it does a fantastic job at 1/5th the price of the Baader. I can definitely recommend it. If I have a chance to do a better comparison, I'll come back and add more details to this review.

To be fair, I don't have any experience with other Zoom eyepieces, but this SV135 model from SVBONY works very well. The title to this review is because you get 5 different focal lengths from 7mm to 21mm, and you can figure out what works best for you before you spend more money on individual eyepieces.Solid weight so it doesn't feel cheap, and very smooth movement when you twist to zoom.It comes with two rubber dust caps that fit nice and snug without being difficult to remove.Views through the eyepiece are sharp and clear, the only downside is you will need to adjust your telescope focuser slightly. There is also some reduction in field of view (i.e. how much of your target will fit in the eyepiece), but that isn't an issue.I have a few different products from SVBONY, and I am always impressed with their quality. If you are on a smaller budget, I highly recommend this zoom eyepiece.

Works great, being able to change magnification without changing eyepieces is an affordable game changer

Bought this to save swapping out eyepieces all the time. The focal range is great, the image is clear and it's very comfortable on the eye when viewing. I think it's exceptional value for the quality of the build and image through the eyepiece, and I'm finding this is my go-to eyepiece at the moment because it's so convenient.Well worth the money.

Sympatyczny maluch.
