Note: Insert barlow lens between your eyepiece and your telescope to get the magnification instantly. When you use a barlow lens with an eyepiece, you get the magnification, but the eye relief is not affected. Normally the shorter the focal length of the eyepiece, the less eye relief you have.

It does work but has a yellowish hue from the cheap materials used for the lens. My telescope has a crisp perfect view without the lens but has limited magnification. Was hoping to use this lens to see jupiter and saturn but the hue messes with the image.

The build quality is pretty good with no play, and there is virtually zero chromatic aberration, and the image is not significantly dimmed. I'd say it's even cleaner than my celestron 2x omni. Does its job well and is very cheap as far as astronomy gear goes which is great value.

I will leave 3 stars rather than 1, as the barlow does seem to be a very high quality piece, and it does actually work on nearby objects which could be useful for other use purposes.But, I bought it expecting to be able to use it for night-sky observing, which it does not do with my 5" Dobsonian. It simply will not pull focus inward enough. It gets so close to reaching focus and then I run out of room. Unfortunately it runs out at the wrong end of the focus ring, so an extension tube will not answer this problem, and the barlow is essesntially useless on my telescope.Oh well, atleast it was relatively cheap.

Barlow can keep decent light and detail however not 3x in my case.When I compared Celestron X-Cel LX with this one, Celestron comes on top in magnification power. Its more than 2x though.
