We wanted a little more ballast on our boat, especially when we have less people on the boat. These are quick and easy to fill, and store when not in use. The handles make it easy to move them from one spot to another as we switch sides for wake surfing.

We ordered 2 of these and they were exactly what we needed to dial in our wave. When we don’t have company on our boat we need a little extra weight but we wanted to use something that could easily be removed when our friends came instead of lead. These are easy to fill and empty and don’t take up much space (even when full!) the material is thick and high quality. They’re very well made and i can tell they will last. highly recommend! It was just what we needed.

Very cool product and easy to use. It is very well made and makes it super convenient to add ballast to your boat without having to lug lead weight bags in and out of your boat. Since I have to trailer my boat, these 50lb dip bags have made it much easier to add the ballast I need for my boat with less hassle. Highly recommend!

The SWELL Wakesurf 50 pound ballast bag is a really neat idea if you need a little extra ballast in a key spot or so on your boat. I don't think you'd want to deal with filling and emptying 10 of these, you're better off with a new 500 pound bag and pump for that. But this is definitely better than a bunch of lead weight bags. However, it's not anywhere near so convenient or easy to use as the vendor video makes you think. When he dips the open bag in the water and pulls it out, there's really 2 things wrong with the video demo.First, he doesn't get that bag anywhere close to 50 pounds full. It's clearly less than half full, under 25 pounds. You can tell by the way he lifts it and empties it how it isn't full.Second is the reason it's not full. Unlike filling a hard container, water only rushes in to fill the SOFT SWELL Wakesurf bag as much as you can hold it open. Otherwise, the pressure of the water outside the bag pushes it closed as much as water can get it.Then last what you don't see: IF you can find a way to get a full 50 pounds into this, then you need to do one of two things. You've either filled it sitting on your swim/ski platform and need to lift and carry it back into place. OR, you've reached over the side of the boat about 2 feet down to the water and have to lift it back in. You'll start lifting that wet 50 pound bag handle with one hand - don't drop it - need to zip it closed with the other before you bring it on - don't drop it!Very last thing to point out. Lead ALWAYS takes up space which with the SWELL Wakesurf bag, when you're not using them, you empty them and they need no space. But when you are using them, because lead is so much more dense than water, 50 pounds of lead take up a lot less space. In fact, 3-4 typical 50 pound lead bags take up about the same space as 1 filled SWELL Wakesurf 50 pound bag.So, if you think the tradeoffs are right for you and your boat, go ahead and give the SWELL Wakesurf a try!

This is a perfect addition to your watersports ballast setup. Some of my compartments are odd sizes and relatively shallow. I understand most people use lead in that instance, but I really don't want ballast ALL the time when I'm out on the water. This is the best of both worlds. Sure, it's only 50 lbs, but placed correctly or in multiples, this will work perfect. It can be drained when it's not needed or I need the compartment .I was also thinking about figuring out a way to strap this to the back of my jet ski to provide a bit more pop(and counterweight on cuts!) on those quick skate sessions when the boat seems like too much work. The handles seem sturdy enough to use as a mounting point, so I plan to do some experimenting.

This bag is built incredibly well. The seams are all heat welded. The handles are solid and comfortable to grip. The handles are also designed and attached so well they will easily handle double the weight this bag is able to carry. The zipper is attached with heat welded seams too. The zipper design is such that it won’t leak or spill water out. The zipper is a little tough to pull, but this is due to the waterproof design. You don’t have to worry about the zipper accidentally coming undone. A good bag to fine tune your wake or if you just need some extra ballast.

Used this ballast bag in my sailboat, I like the option of adding or losing ballast as needed quickly and easily. The grab handles are in good position, and the large T handle on the zipper makes opening and closing easy. The bag rolls up into a small formfactor for easy storage. It was a little difficult to fully drain the bag due to the position of the zipper, I stuffed a large towel into the bag and left it for an hour then added a new dry towel and left that over night, the bag was dry after that.
