I own a lot of files. I’ve owned just about all well known brands of files (including produced locations variants, USA -> Mexico?) This is a good file. They hold an edge like no other and capable of cutting ferrous metals that others cannot. It’s expensive sure, but you’ll get you’re money back in spades if you require a file on a semi regular basis. Grabbing a mere total of 4 to 6 shape and roughness variations (00, 2 & 4 - flat, half round & maybe a needlefile set(search mascot needle files, they’re grobet needle files at 1/3 the cost)), of Glardon Vallorbe files will cover 99% of people’s use cases. Other files, will be junk the first time you take them to anything harder than brass, causing you to buy another which will already put you above the price of this guy.

I was replacing some Nicholson files that I've had for 20 years. I don't use them a ton but noticed that they had kind of lost their Mojo the last time I used. them. I have heard of the Grobet files and thought I'd give them a try- wow- they are nothing short of amazing. They are extremely sharp, very hard and smooth as silk. I bought a new Nicholson at Lowe's to make sure I wasn't just reacting to a new file, these things are way nicer- they're also twice the price but I really like them. The only down side is that because of the pattern, they don't clean up as easily with a card file with softer material like Al or Copper. I think I'll get some chalk to work with them. Really nice.

This is a great file. I didn’t know I could be so happy with the purchase of a file! Works great on all my 304 stainless projects

Other than the price, there is nothing to dislike. The file is tapered in width and has one safe edge which both feathers have many uses when filing metal to shape. It is a double cut design, both the angle and depth of the patter makes the file easy to cut and easy to clean.

Best file I have ever owned. I do full fit gun smithing building 1911 works well on exotic steel ( titanium and stainless) will look for more sizes great price

More expensive than other files but I did end up with a much smoother finish.
