I have used some other brands these ones are perfect. good wire, good connectors, great clamping strenth on the pins.

The black 10 Pin Female Ribbon Cable Connector that comes on one end of these female db9 connectors was of no use in my panel mount application. As such, I cut the connector off and ohm'd the pins to wires to see what is what. After testing, it's very obvious where the wires terminate and in what order. My only suggestion for the betterment of this product would be for the manufacturer to provide a pinout chart for the black connector and a pinout shart by wire and number for ea. wire in the ribbon. As suspected, the wire with the red line is pin one. They do not go in order however. So far, very happy with this tight female db9 ribbon cable.

Pin 5 on a standard circuit board header maps to pin 3 of the DB9 connector, if you use standard numbering. Who knows how the others are arranged? Actually, see the (currently) top-rated review for a complete table. But do you want to design a circuit board to work with this cable and not standard ones? I think not.These will go in the trash.

I only needed one (for an APC UPS SMT1000) and it fit perfectly, though I went a step further and cut one end off, so I could transfer the ferrite chokes from the old cable to the new, and then used "14-Pin (2x7) Female IDC 2.54mm Pitch Connectors for Flat Ribbon Cable, FC-014-10 " ( to finish it. They seem good quality.
