It works. Plain and simple. Some of the off-brand Symmons parts don't, but this one does. Here's my view of the problem. The o-ring fails and the spindle leaks. The packing is tightened to stop the leak but eventually it fails as well. Replacing the o-ring is the fix. Unfortunately, the o-ring by itself is not listed as a part, so we are forced to purchase a complete packing kit. Fortunately, this kit works! Save the old o-ring and pick up it's replacement at the hardware store. It will save you from having to replace the entire packing again.

black rubber o ring was too big for my shower set and did not fit. I believe they mailed the wrong size in error as the rest of the washers worked with my model.

Other than digging out the old compression seal, it was a quick and straight forward repair. I used an online schematic for the T-16 set to make sure that it was done correctly.
