Smooth just like rollerblade type casters but the correct height (2.5in) to replace steelcase chair casters. Roller type are 3in high; don't need my chair that high up even though I can adjust the chair height. Also don't roll away like the single rollerblade type. Very happy I found these. Looked around quite a bit to find these. OEM are a lot more expensive.

These wheels were a good substitute for the factory wheels. I needed them for rolling on carpet. There was a struggle trying to get them in though.

This set of replacement wheels are exactly what you need. Only the 2.5†wheels look right and are exact size replacements. Any of the 2†wheels just looks silly on the Aeron and the center pole would likely have troubles on carpet.These wheels are very quiet, they simply glide across a hard floor, are super easy to install, and I highly recommend these to replace those noisy factory plastic things Herman Miller ships with such an otherwise fine chair. I had upgraded my chair to the single wheel roller blade looking wheel several months ago and they rolled fantastic but would not allow turning and movement as easy as the original all plastic wheels. I decided to try these dual roller blade style wheels and WOW...they move as easy as my previous wheels and they swivel and turn with the ease of the original plastic wheels. They are the best of both worlds. So...they installed very easily, and they work AMAZING! I highly recommend these wheels and will be retrofitting every chair in my office with these babies!!!

I will need some years to see how durable these are, but once you get the right diameter for your chair these are awesome casters. I ordered the 2 in. ones first not realizing they came in different diameters, and this caused a problem because the original casters were very slightly larger in diameter but also kind of hard plastic. These casters give a tiny bit when you sit. There's just the slightest bit of softness to them. So, you need a large enough diameter if your chair's central column tends to be almost touching the floor. In my case the 2.75-in diameter was perfect. The slight softness of the wheels is part of what makes them feel so great and quiet when the chair rolls.

Got two sets for two different chairs and they do fit to standard. Very easy to install. No tools needed. Much better than the stock trash wheels that most chairs come with.

Follow up Nov 26. They still work great. No scratches on the floor. Hubby put them on his chair too!!They wheels work great - quiet and smooth and don't risk scratching the floor. Happy so far.
