Makes good holes and that helps me make good things. Holes are straight holes and I like straight holes because it helps me make straight things. I made a door, used lots of dowels in the holes.

I love the festool domino machine but the price point is pretty high so I figured I would try one of these. For a precision woodworking tool it’s a complete joke. I find it interesting that other reviewers seem to like it. Maybe I got a bad one. The angle adjustment is unreliable and walks constantly. You can’t adjust the pan of the unit and mine was drilling at a slight angle to the right. In which case dowels are sticking out at an angle so you can’t join anything at all. You can’t adjust the centering screen and the machine was off-center by almost 1/ eighth. The on switch doesn’t lock in place so you have to keep it held down with your thumb which defeats the purpose of the ergonomic grip towards the back of the unit. Whoever designed this obviously did not use it.Just to be clear, it doesn’t even kind of work.I’ve never been more disappointed in a tool in 30 years.I returned it and the shipping label they sent me was not accepted anywhere so I had to pay 25 for shipping. From every one of these units that I’ve found online, they all seem to be made from the same Chinese manufacturer. Buyer beware.

This doweling machine works great in my custom furniture shop; however, it’s easy enough to use that a beginner could learn to use it as well. It is powerful and durable enough to use on thick oak wood. We used it to dowel a large order of custom doors and it had proven very accurate so far.

I bought this mostly for panel glue ups and weird-angle joinery, and because the thought of giving Festool any money sickens me (they're patent trolls). This thing does a fantastic job. It only comes with 5/16" bits but 3/8" bits are readily available from Grizzly. At this risk of sounding like an infomercial, I had no idea doweling could be so fast and easy. :) Seriously, it's a great alternative to dominos and hand-placed dowels.

Ange just mentioned walks. Should be perminatly fixed at 90.Must draw super fine alignment lines and find a way to clamp to wood aquarely or will misalignOnce that's figured out it's awsome and strong joints but not 100 % perfect alignment.I'm going to make an alignment jig/clamp and it'll be better

Was very disappointed in the lack of quality and accuracy with the dual dowel drill. Was more than 1/4 inches off from being in line with one other. The alignment plate was thin and flimsy and would not stay in adjustment as well. Overall was a bad purchase decision and wouldn’t recommend it.

this is actually great and cheap if you remove one of the bits and just go with 1. Could avoid the need for a domino machine if you're tight on cash
