I purchased this shoe for my 10 year old grandson. It is very hard, more like a basketball. He loves kickball, but finds this ball hard to kick. It would probably be best used by someone older; however, it is very well made.

I bought this because the reviews for the red 10" ball said that it isn't durable enough. Well, this one scores a ten out of ten for durability but loses points in all other categories because of it.This feels like a slightly deflated basketball. The rubber is exactly that of a basketball: thick and unforgiving when it hits you. Because it doesn't give, it's also not the best ball for kicking. Keep in mind that it's 8.5" too, making it difficult to get a square kick.I tried this for a few minutes and then decided I didn't want to risk someone getting hurt. I went out and bought the 10" red ball, used it for our game (a few hours with full-throttle kicking) until it transformed into an egg shape, and chunked it. While I prefer durability, the build of this ball just made it unusable.Not at all recommended.

This ball is in every way better than the cliche red rubber kickball. As the first reviewer stated durability is out-of-this-world better than the simple red ball we all have come to know as the standard kickball. And to agree with the second reviewer, the smaller size of this ball and the grip on it make it much better for the throwing and catching aspect of the game. And he was correct thought this ball is heavier and more rigid it hurts the same as getting hit by any other ball (soccer, football, basketball...). Where I differ form the other two reviews is the kicking aspect of the ball. I played soccer on very high level traveling teams for 16 years of my younger life so I know a thing or two about how to kick a ball. First off, you never kick any ball with your toes no matter what...it's just stupid and you are asking for a broken toe, not to mention you have no directional control on your kick and less power. And to answer the first review: No red rubber standard ball could be kicked half as far as this ball can...period. The extra weight and rigidity of this ball make it much more ideal for kicking than the red ball that flexes and gives everytime you strike it. Now both the complaints on kicking are ungrounded and clearly made by novice kickers. If you can center the ball in on the flat bony part on the top of your footand keep your knee over the ball (and not lean back to avoid pop-fly) then this ball cannot be beat. This is far and away the best kickball I have ever seen and I am so glad that our kickball league has opted to use this style. Now the only reason I have given this product 4 stars instead of 5 is the balls finish. I do not like the synthetic rubber finish...if it had the rasied grip leather finish or even synthetic leather (like the majority of footballs you have probably seen) this would be the perfect ball, but like I said until I see one like that this is the best out there.
