I had to upgrade from a line voltage controlled thermostat on my oil burner so I could run a new digital wi fi controlled thermostat and this worked like a charm. I ran it using romax, but when the weather gets nice, I'm going to change the wiring out to BX. Wiring can be a little complicated if you have a a system like mine that's oil burner baseboard heat and hot water. I would suggest getting an professional electrician, to help you, if you're not familiar with wiring.
