This is my favorite thermometer. I've had the same one for over two years working in a restaurant and using it almost every day. Even with heavy professional kitchen use it has held up perfectly and become all of my coworkers favorite so I bought a second. It can be easily re-calibrated which is very important and not all thermometers at this price point can be.

After my husband killed our last meat thermometer in the dishwasher, finding one that was waterproof was a must. I ordered this thinking it was dishwasher safe, but the packaging neither confirms nor denies whether or not it’s truly dishwasher safe, so I haven’t taken the chance. I wish the illumination feature stayed on longer.

The main issue with this thermometer is that I purchased it sight unseen. As a professional chef, I normally carry a food thermometer on the upper sleeve of my coat. Unfortunately, it was too long and did not fit in my Chef's coat and in addition, it didn't sit flush in its own plastic sleeve which caused it to constantly fall out.But it did have an internal light which made it easier to read. So the best use for this thermometer is for larger cuts of meat and then stored in a tool drawer.

So far so good, I have not tried to see if it is waterproof yet, but I am certain I will be making a mistake soon and it will end up wet...

Great Waterproof. When using it for steak on the grill, it is hard to read the number without kneeling down. The light is a wonderful addition.
