I bought this to control the brakes on my 24' Enclosed car hauler. I bought the one with connector included for my 2001 Dodge 2500 Cummins. Came in within 2 days which pleased me. I installed it in literally 10 minutes. (Pleased #2). The mounting and install was clean and simple, and straight forward. If you have issues installing this then you maybe should not be driving, let along pulling a trailer.. Just sayin.. ;) I was concerned that the display came on and seemed to stay on without the truck ignition on. But after I went back after a few minutes, it apparently times out, and shuts the display off. (pleased #3). So, yes, it seems to be powered all the time, but at least the display does not glow all the time with the truck off. If you have a single battery system, questionable battery, or not going to run it for some time, maybe you should unplug it and stow it until you plan to use it. I'm sure my truck wont have an issue due to being the HD electrical/charging and dual battery. So, I will leave it in the truck with no worries of battery drain. I have not yet used it, but will be soon. But set up and using also seems very straight forward, and intuitive. I do not foresee any issues there. But if there are, I will amend the review. Upon unpacking, what came in the box is a connector for hard wiring without a factory plug in the truck, with crimp splices etc. Great if you do not have a factory installed connector. But I bought it with the truck specific connector and it came with that cable also. Also comes with two different mounting set ups. Traditional bracket, and the mount pocket so it can be removed easy. Either will work fine, but I used the mount pocket in case I want to remove it at some point, maybe to use in another vehicle at times. The unit itself seems to be top quality, and does not feel like a cheap electronic piece at all. It just feels tight, well made. Ergonomics seem very clear and easy as well. I am a large man at 6'5" 350 lbs. I was concerned with my knee hitting it. I installed it to the right of the steering column, and low on the dash near my right knee. There is plenty of room for knee movement at that location, and not in the way at all. I installed it right next to, and to the left of the ash tray (those that drive this era RAM would understand where). Perfect location, and the Dodge Ram specific cable was plenty long enough to reach to the lower right of the steering column. If you want to mount it higher on the dash, there might be an issue with the length of the cable. but not sure why someone would want to mount this higher. To the lower right of the column for me is the perfect, out of the way, but cleanly accessible location. I would recommend buying this unit, even though it is a little more expensive than many of them. I do think it is priced right, and this is the case of "you get what you pay for". I am very pleased with the purchase, and anticipate being pleased with the function of this unit.

Generally, the most difficult part of installing anything into a vehicle is going under the dash and figuring out which wire does what. Obviously, you don't want to mess this part up. (Is that wire green and blue or blue and green? BBBBBZZZZZZTTTTT!!!! Oops!) Tekonsha has solved this using vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, which you specify during the order. With it, wiring it really is plug-and-play. Go under the dash, find the connector, and plug one end of the harness you specified into it. It can only fit one way and will click when properly seated. Plug the other end into the controller, listen for the click, and...you're done with the wiring. If you can spell you own name with fewer than three errors, you can install this. It even has the option of being installed into a quick-release mount (SUPPLIED!!!) so you can unclip/unplug it and move it from car to car. This would require purchasing a clip mount and wiring harness for the second car, but it is a lot less expensive than buying a second unit. I only have one tow vehicle so I did not require this, but offering this as an installation option demonstrates foresight from the manufacturer. Once installed, setup is easy and use with any trailer is intuitive. It easily adjusts from loaded trailer to empty, particularly handy for my dump trailer. This is a fantastic unit, favorably priced, and easily installed. If you need a premium brake controller, choose this. Note that I paid full retail price for this device and have received no compensation of any sort for this review.

This unit is super easy to install. Takes a few minutes. The instructions are enough, but a quick glance at YouTube and you will fully understand. Setting it up with the trailer is simple. The directions are straightforward and worked perfectly the first time. There are others that are less money, but this is a quality unit and I don’t want to risk a major catastrophe pulling a heavy trailer with a questionable braking system. I’m pleased, definitely recommend it and would buy again.

Easy to use and works well.

I got the brake controller faster than expected. It was very easy to install and worked properly. My only issue was with the packing. It came in a small box along with one other item. Although there was no damage to either item, there was no packing material inside the box.

The product was super easy to install on my 2006 Dodge Durango. Very easy to set up took about five minutes I've never used one of these before. and immediately notice the difference when towing my trailer and applying the brake I noticed the trailer was breaking and helping me come to a stop. It can do up to three different axles I only had 2 axles on my trailer that is a 24 ft car hauler enclosed trailer. I would highly recommend this product to anyone super simple to install and very good on the value I drove from California to Texas with it on my vehicle for my trailer. And I also left it plugged in some people said that LED screen stays on and it eventually turns off after a while but it never drained my battery at all. and you can simply just unplug it and put it in your glove box if you do not want to leave it out.

The brake controller is super easy to install, especially with the vehicle-specific wiring harness. It's literally plug and play, everything is included, and makes adding a brake controller to a vehicle equipped with a factory tow package an absolute breeze. My only complaint is that nowhere in the description of the brake controller does it mention the included mounting brackets, so I bought an unnecessary bracket.

Used a faulty NAPA unit for years that never worked properly and finally got this and am blown away how well it works. Super easy install and easy to modify setting for loaded or empty trailer. Also easy to save different settings for different trailers. Very very happy
