My son requested “a rocket that can break apart and make sounds†for his birthday and I knew I had my work cut out for me. I was skeptical after reading other reviews but I decided to try it anyways. My husband and I were super impressed though when we got the toy! It has a lot of different configurations which my son loves. It makes noises and has lights that simulate a rocket taking off. Some of the concerns of other reviews were: too hot of steam and projector doesn’t work. We didn’t have either of those problems. The steam comes out the same temperature as the water you put in it. We used room temperature water and the steam never got hotter than that. The projector actually worked better than I expected. You need to put on the lens cap for it to project and it works best in a dark room. If you’re skeptical of this toy after reading other reviews, hopefully this will give you some reassurance since there isn’t another rocket toy out there that comes close to being this cool!

ok so this toy is pretty cool.. it has all the fun stuff like little astronauts and flames you can take off an put back on.. plus you can customize the look with stickers.. the rocket breaks into a few main pieces, so more than one child "could" play with it at once.. the very coolest part, the noise and the "smoke", requires only a scant amount of water (tiny measuring thingy included) and is heatless, making it PERFECT for littles.. think nebulizer.. the same type of misty cloudy vapor.. the toy does require batteries on the rocket section for the sound and smoke to work, but the toy is fun by itself if you need to remove them.. there is NOT a shut off or volume down button, and it's VERY loud... this toy will work for a variety of ages because there are parts of it that are super simple - the main shuttle part, which does not rely on the rest of the toy to be fun - which will appeal to toddler aged littles.. the downside is that the plastic is not super sturdy, like not even lego sturdy, and the hinges and some of the connectors may be easily snapped, but if they're not throwing it down every five minutes, and if you supervise them, it should be okay.. be advised that the astronauts CAN break apart into a lot of tiny pieces if thrown against a hard surface, but its easy to put them back together.. just a bit of a choking hazard there.. bigger kids will like the toy because when you add in everything else, and the lights, sounds, and "smoke", its just really fun and cool.. i gave it 4 stars because of the lack of a volume button... i bought this for my 2 year old boy, and while we do put the whole toy together once in a while to activate the smoke, lights, and sound, we only let him play with the main shuttle and astronauts unsupervised.. really fun toy!

This toy is vary weak and brittle. It will not hold up to your kid playing with it for more then a day!!!

On face value it's a great toy and is well priced. My son is OBSESSED with rockets and space and loved it - especially the water vapor rocket 'smoke'....but when we went to try the projector element it didn't work as it was missing a vital piece - the LENS! And, as kids do, he dropped it after a day of playing and one of brackets got stuck inside the rocket stages. It took a pair of pliers to fix it. Upon further playing it seems pretty poorly made (cheap plastic, sigh) and I don't think it will last the test of time.ONE MORE NOTE: I bought his over 30 days ago to stock up on his birthday presents and now can't return it, so that sucks, and we have a toddler who is constantly asking when I'm going to fix it. SO if you want to avoid this then don't bother with this toy - go and buy some Playmobile or Bruder or something that will last more than 24hrs.I hope the manufacturers read this and replace the item. Very disappointed.
