Oven access opens easily with included screen and wood tool revealing a grilling/baking area. We recommend using a 12″-13″ pizza stones or 2 to 3 personal size pizzas. A bunch of small pans makes a personal pizza party! (Pans and Stones not included) The Casita Pizza Oven and Grill Chiminea also provides a quick hotdog or marshmallow by opening the mouth safety screen.

No kitchen mess, just burn your paper plates along with napkins, grab another beverage, enjoy the fire.

The Casita is made for the long haul. Let's face it, most products people buy today end up in a garbage dump in a couple years. The reason is manufactures not only want to sell their products, they want to sell them over and over again to the same people. We don’t agree with that idea. The Blue Rooster Company engineers chimineas that will last a lifetime and then some. We refuse to produce disposable outdoor fireplaces. It’s our goal to make the best chimineas available and our quality shows.

The Casita fireplace is an original Blue Rooster Chiminea, designed over 20 years ago. There is a smaller version knock off being sold. When they say “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”, they really mean “We are not intelligent or creative, so we will just steal your idea.” If you want the original Casita Chiminea, order from The Blue Rooster Company.

Since 1997, The Blue Rooster's mission has been to design/manufacture the best chimineas available for people to enjoy their time together outdoors. Our commitment to customers has earned us your trust and respect. We also carry a full line of replacement parts if the unexpected happens.

FAQ's

How do chimineas compare to fire pits?

A fire pit is classified as a “Recreational Fire”, much like a ring of rocks, whereas a enclosed chiminea is classified as a “Outdoor Portable Fireplace”. Blue Rooster chimineas may also be classified as “Cooking Devices” due to the cooking grates and enclosed design. There are many fire pits incorrectly advertised as chimineas. They have mesh wraparounds, multi openings, and faux chimneys that only funnel smoke and have no effect on the fire. Due to lack of proper engineering, a mislabeled fire pit will never draft properly. Fire pits have a tendency to be hard to light and smoke/smolder due to not having proper drafting. Fire pits also have safety concerns regarding the possibility of a sudden gust of wind blowing embers into dry grass, deck, or a neighbor’s property.

Where to use it?

A properly designed chiminea with mouth screen is considered an enclosed burning device. Often, they can be used where open fires are not allowed. They also classify as cooking devices with the grate inserts and should be allowed wherever a gas grill is accepted.

Maintenance?

Just like a car that needs an oil change now and then. A chiminea requires occasional ash cleanout to keep it burning clean.

  • Easy to light
  • Low smoke
  • Burns bright, hot and clean
  • Easy grill access
  • Emergency heat source
  • Stable design
  • Long lasting and portable

What color chiminea is the best?

Most wood burning chiminea buyers stick with the charcoal color since the soot and ash buildup turns a colored chiminea charcoal. The effects of sun and weather will also wear down the factory paint over time and high temperature firings eventually darken colored chimineas. BBQ spray paint is a quick fix for regular maintenance of cast iron, steel and cast aluminum parts.

The Blue Rooster chimineas all start with 3 layers of high temp charcoal (black) fireplace paint. The color finishes are then applied to create a patina finish. High temp spray paint is available at your local home store or hardware store in a variety of colors. High temp spray paint can be applied in just a few minutes and will keep your chiminea looking brand new.

Should I place something under my chiminea?

We recommend using a deck protector hearth pad. A chiminea does not direct much heat downward, but the occasional ember or ash will happen with any fire. For a more permanent pad use cement blocks or pavers available at any local outdoor garden store. Four 18x18 patio blocks make a three-foot hearth pad that works great to protect your surface from an ember or stray ash.

How long do Blue Rooster Chimineas last?

With proper use and maintenance our chimineas will last for many years. Blue Rooster has made metal chimineas for over 20 years and most are still in use.

The product arrived today, but I was at work and did not see this till late at night tonight. I decided to install it and it was done within 30 minutes. Heavy duty stuff that's made from great materials. Seems to be built to last, if you take good care of it. I have used it yet, but it looks terrific when it is in front of you. It's just the right size. Package game in great condition. Not a single dent or scuff. They give you paint if you did manage to get a scuff or two. Can't wait till I use it. Thanks.

This was a Father's Day present. My husband really, really likes it.We have already used it to cook a pizza and some zucchini for dinner. Everything was good, but the pizza was perfect!! We did use a pizza stone in the pizza oven, but the crust was very yummy. Better than using the oven for cooking the pizza!

A little pricey, but very nice. Fire grates are heavy duty. Body and stand are very nice. I only wish the hinge and latch were a little thicker.

I'm kinda torn on this Chiminea. No doubt it is very well made and will be super-durable. The main issue, though, is that it doesn't put out as much heat as I had hoped. I'm a pretty serious outdoor fire guy. I've got fire pits, pellet stoves, propane heaters, and a clay chiminea. And for this one, given the cost, I was hoping for some SERIOUS HEAT. Yet, somehow this doesn't project nearly as much heat as my clay chiminea. Maybe it's because it's aluminum and it heats the space all around, and doesn't throw 90% of it's heat out the opening? If I absolutely PACK it with wood and get it super cranking, it does ok, but then I start a small fire in my $50 (ten years ago) clay chiminea and I'm like... whoa... now that's some heat!!

We love this! The firebox portion is easy to use and very functional. The pizza oven is awesome! makes great 12" pizzas in about 5 minutes. We've had three "make your own" pizza parties in the first few weeks since we bought this and everyone loves it. We set this up on the outside corner of our deck - perfect spot and looks great. Note: the first cover we bought for it didn't fit even though it popped-up in the "frequently bought together" section. We returned it and bought the one made by Blue Rooster - it fits great.

Gorgeous oven and fireplace. This does meet up to the previous reviews I have read. Solid, and very attractive. The only downfall would be the lack of a thermometer in the upper oven. It's a bit difficult to bake a pizza without one. But we will drill our own hole and insert one. The workmanship is glorious! Nicely done! No damage at all! Our goal is to set up a pizza baking corner outside off of the patio. We don't want it beneath the awning as it would capture smoke, so we intend to build a small attached patio just for this oven and close to our front door to keep the pizza good and hot on those frosty nights to and from the indoor kitchen. It is a visual joy, so to hide it would be a shame. It deserves to be appreciated by guests coming to our front door. We intend to add flower beds around the small patio to hold freshly grown 'pizza' herbs, like oregano and basil. Big enough for a small outdoor metal bistro settee with two chairs so we can sip drinks while admiring the blazing fire inside. It will provide ambiance with the visual perspective (who doesn't love to watch a blazing fire?) and the wonderful aroma of baked goods. I intend to also attempt baked breads and other delicious treats. The 14" pizza stone fits perfectly into the oven too. So bigger pizza options as well! We just love it!!!

I have had a clay chimenea for 3-4 years. It finally gave out and broke into pieces. After a lot of research I found Blue Rooster company. I ordered the Casita Grill chimenea outdoor fireplace wood burning firepit and Pizza oven. This thing is FANTASTIC, it is made as well as a wood stove. I am super impressed with the quality and workmanship. NOTHING cheap about it at all. My great grand children will be able to use it long after I'm gone. If you are looking for a heavy duty chimenea, this one will not disappoint.

No complaints with fabrication and look of product. It’s nice addition to the back patio for cool nights, s’mores, or pizza. The pizza is phenomenal with good wood below it
