i started feeding my 11lb service dog honest kitchen kitchen base mix in both flavors along with cooked beef after trying 5 other dog foods. she is allergic to rice and to chicken. the base mix solved the problem and i make it in daily batches and freeze(score the center so you can break into meals if you forget to remove the night before from the freezer). she loves both flavors. i also add a couple teaspoons of any veggies, cereal, fruit, etc i have as taste treats on the top. this has truly solved her food problem completely.i bought the patés this winter as a backup for anytime i am unable to cook for her or she needs to stay with someone on an emergency basis as i won't have her stay in any kennel that doesn't know her training and commands. i have been topping her meals with a little paté instead of the veggies etc for the last two weeks while i've had a bad cold. she has eaten it straight off with no stomach issues at all to where she can now eat half a box as a meal replacement.i am not a grain free person about my dog. dogs eat grains in the wild. she gets plenty of grains in treats etc. but i had to start figuring out what worked best for her and honest kitchen base mix and paté have truly been the answer.i have been so relieved these last 7 months to not have to worry about finding a food on which she thrives.incidentally i cook one lb of 93%lean beef for the base mixes and that makes 6 days of food.the paté meals will be fed as toppers so she can swap directly to them if necessary.thanks honest kitchen.

Quick & easy way to bring excitement into dog kibble. I feed my 2 rescues twice a day & they get excited just hearing the dishes clang. Not a drop left. I open container & transfer to glass jar for refrigeration. A box lasts easily a week as a topper.

My only criticism with this product is its cost. I find it a bit expensive so mix it as a topper for special occasions or to give my doodle some variety. It is a high-quality pate—not soupy like some. Plus you can see the veggies in it. I realize it might seem I am stating the obvious, but I have purchased some “pates†which were more purees than pates. They claim to have veggies and I suppose they speak the truth but you would need a microscope to find them. This product is firm (but soft) with healthy ingredients. Lulu licks her bowl clean—which makes washing it so much easier!

My dog was okay with it but didn't go crazy over it. That doesn't mean the product isn't good. What I didn't like is the packaging. I don't like when I open pet food and it gets on my hands althought that happens often. I probably won't reorder just because of the way it's packaged. It's opens at the top of the carton. I think it would be better if it opened in the middle, laying flat with a better way to open it. Seriously, something like this turns me off the product.

Pâté is the idea way to hide pills or capsules. I put some on a spoon then place the pill on it and the fold it over so the pill or capsule is in a ball of delicious pâté . My girl never ever spits out a pill.

Update. This has been our dog food for several years. As I stated it’s about the only food I’ve found my dog can tolerate. Now I get pissed off each time I open a box ! When I started buying it years ago I got a full box of pate that I didn’t have to mix up before using. I could serve it straight from the box. Awhile back I started noticing the boxes had a bit of liquid in then- about a tbs. Now the added liquid is out of control! I can no longer serve from the box since there is so much liquid I have to put it in something to stir it in. This means I am getting significantly less product for my money. A LOT LESS! The boxes now have 1/4 cup of broth and about a fourth less food. This means on top of the increased prices I have to buy more. Folks you had a quality product that you didn’t have to water down to hide how much you were raising the cost. Be up front and stick to just charging more- it’s more honest!Old reviewI’m fanatically picky about what I feed my dog. I have a Pomchi that basically has doggy IBD. This food is the only one she has been able to tolerate besides the prescription one from the vet. I hate having to feed the vet food since one of the ingredients is sugar. Sugar- wtf!!!My only issues with this are- 1- the packaging sucks2- the amount of water/ broth in the box has increased from almost none to a few tbs since I started buying it 4 years ago
