Standard pillows often raise your head too high, especially for side sleepers. The Therm-a-Rest can be easily inflated to whatever elevation you want. And it's just more comfortable than a standard pillow.

I travel a lot, I need a comfortable inflatable pillow in my carry on and this is the best I've ownedI got the small one it's the perfect size for airplane seats whether setting in economy or business, I guess the large one will be a bit big for that

Backpacking for over 20 years, and I can say this pillow is the most supportive, comfortable that I've ever tried. Rolling it perfectly to fit in the sack however.. not so much! I do believe they've updated it since, but either way, a great buy. Quiet, comfortable, supportive.

When I was looking for a backpacking pillow, the most common complaint I read was about the pillow leaking air (either out of the box or after a few uses)I've had this pillow for about a month now and I've used it twice.The total time spent inflated was approx. 9 days, with no leaks, not even a gradual one.It's a lot more comfortable to sleep on than my folded up clothes.The only drawback, is that it's a little bit heavier than I thought it would be and it's pricey.But I'm content to pay more for something if it's well made and completely reliable over something that is less expensive (in this case a third the cost of this pillow) and hit and miss as to how durable and reliable it is.I backpack into the Sierras for about 4-5 days at a time, camping out at each spot for two to four days and then returning and I don't have to hike for more than a few hours.If you're backpacking long distances, like the John Muir Trail, Appalachian Trail, The Continental Divide Trail, where ounces make a difference, at nearly half a pound, this will probably be too heavy.

Wanted something more packable that a regular pillow for car camping. After trying a few different types I ordered this one in the medium size. I love it. My husband bought a small and also loves it. It is surprisingly comfortable. I like a firm pillow, so I keep it fully inflated, but you can adjust based on preference. At full inflation it isn’t noisy, though it might be if only partially inflated. Kept air well, even with some pretty big temperature swings. I’ve only had it one year, but have used it many times and so far it’s holding up well.

Easy to inflate and comfortable. Happy I purchased a large size to maximize a restful night sleep from backpacking all day. No issues to date.

I'm thinking out loud here because I haven't entirely decided to send this Therm-a-rest pillow back yet.On balance this pillow just isn't right for me, but the fabric choices render this pillow to emit a crackle if even the smallest motion of my head or neck occurs. These are small noises, but they are right in your ear. I could barely sleep and that's a deal breaker.The quality, fit and finish is fine. I'm one who liked the old style inflation valve, but the new one works. Poke your eye out if you roll the wrong way.... but it works.Not for me.

Love this - it's perfect for travel, as it folds up so small and you can hook the whole package to a carabiner on the outside of your bag. Easy to inflate and adjust once inflated, the shoulder cut-out is comfortable and the soft material is lovely. Bonus points for the ability to remove the bladder so you can wash the pillow case, which I've done twice now without any problems.

Great pillow, comfortable and packs down small. The only thing I wished is it had a one way valve like the pads do. It would make it easier to fine tune the comfort level
